Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
1 John 4:5
They are from the world; therefore they speak as from the world, and the world listens to them.

For whatever is
born of God overcomes the world; and this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith.
If you were of the world, the world would love its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, because of this the world hates you.
And do not
be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what the will of God is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
For am I now
seeking the favor of men, or of God? Or am I striving to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a bond-servant of Christ.
in which you
formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience.
Therefore if you have been
raised up with Christ, keep seeking the things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
1 Timothy 6:10
the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

adulteresses, do you not know that friendship with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
1 John 3:17
whoever has the world’s goods, and sees his brother in need and closes his heart against him, how does the love of God abide in him?
