And we get this command from him, that he who loves God is to love his brother as well.

I give you a new command, to love one another ??as I have loved you, you are to love one another.

This is my command: you are to love one another as I have loved you.

We know we have crossed from death to life, because we love the brotherhood; he who has no love [for his brother] remains in death.

Beloved, if God had such love for us, we ought to love one another.

(You know how gracious our Lord Jesus Christ was; rich though he was, he became poor for the sake of you, that by his poverty you might be rich.)

Copy God, then, as his beloved children,

The darkness

The people who sat in darkness saw a great light, yea light dawned on those who sat in the land and the shadow of death.

to shine on those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our steps into the way of peace."

I have come as light into the world, that no one who believes in me may remain in the dark.

Such ages of ignorance God overlooked, but he now charges men that they are all everywhere to repent,

It is far on in the night, the day is almost here; so let us drop the deeds of darkness and put on the armour of the light;

and has now revealed in the appearance of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who has put down death and brought life and immortality to light by the gospel.
