Then Bathsheba bowed with her face to the earth, and did reverence to the king, and said, Let my lord king David live for ever.
2 Samuel 9:6
Mephibosheth, the son of Jonathan the son of Saul, came to David and fell on his face and prostrated himself. And David said, “Mephibosheth.” And he said, “Here is your servant!”
All the king’s servants who were at the king’s gate bowed down
and paid homage to Haman; for so the king had commanded concerning him. But Mordecai neither bowed down nor paid homage.
But afterward he sent his son to them, saying, ‘They will respect my son.’
Nevertheless, each individual among you also is to
love his own wife even as himself, and the wife must see to it that she respects her husband.
Furthermore, we had
earthly fathers to discipline us, and we respected them; shall we not much rather be subject to the Father of spirits, and live?
1 Kings 1:25
For he has gone down today and has sacrificed oxen and fatlings and sheep in abundance, and has invited all the king’s sons and the commanders of the army and Abiathar the priest, and behold, they are eating and drinking before him; and they say, ‘ Long live King Adonijah!’
I said to the king, “
Let the king live forever. Why should my face not be sad when the city, the place of my fathers’ tombs, lies desolate and its gates have been consumed by fire?”
Then the Chaldeans spoke to the king in
Aramaic: “ O king, live forever! Tell the dream to your servants, and we will declare the interpretation.”
They responded and said to Nebuchadnezzar the king: “
O king, live forever!
The queen entered the banquet
hall because of the words of the king and his nobles; the queen spoke and said, “ O king, live forever! Do not let your thoughts alarm you or your face be pale.
Then these commissioners and satraps came
by agreement to the king and spoke to him as follows: “King Darius, live forever!
