A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

men who are above reproach, only once married, with children who believe and who are not liable to the charge of being profligate or insubordinate.

They too must be put on probation; after that, if they are above reproach, they can serve as deacons.

They were both just in the sight of God, blameless in their obedience to all the commands and regulations of God;

so as to be blameless and innocent, faultless children of God in a crooked and perverse generation where you shine like stars in a dark world;

No one under sixty is to be put on the church's list of widows; and she must have been only once married,

For we only participate in Christ provided that we keep firm to the very end the confidence with which we started,

Now the end of all is near. Steady then, keep cool and pray!

Keep cool, keep awake. Your enemy the devil prowls like a roaring lion, looking out for someone to devour.

contribute to needy saints, make a practice of hospitality.

he must be hospitable, a lover of goodness, master of himself, a just man, a religious man, and abstemious;

Never forget to be hospitable, for by hospitality some have entertained angels unawares.

Be hospitable to each other, and do not grudge it.

And the Lord's servant must not be a man of strife; he must be kind to everybody, a skilled teacher, a man who will not resent injuries;

Deacons are only to be married once, and they must manage their children and households properly.
