King Jehoshaphat of Judah returned safely to his palace in Jerusalem.

Jehovah became angry with Amaziah. He sent him a prophet who asked: Why do you dedicate your life to serving the gods of those people? Those gods could not save their own people from you!

A prophet approached King Ahab of Israel and said: This is what Jehovah says: 'Have you seen this large army? I will hand it over to you today. Then you will know that I am Jehovah.'

The prophet Isaiah went to King Hezekiah and asked: Where did these men come from and what did they say to you? Hezekiah answered: They came from a very distant country, from Babylonia.

Jehovah his God handed him over to the king of Aram, who defeated him, captured many prisoners, and brought them to Damascus. He also handed him over to the king of Israel, who decisively defeated him.

Jehovah became angry at Israel and let King Cushan Rishathaim of Mesopotamia conquer them. They were subject to him for eight years.

For they persecute him whom you have wounded. They tell of the sorrow of those whom you have hurt.

How horrible it will be for Assyria! It is the rod of my anger. My fury is in the staff of the Assyrians' hands.

I was angry with my people. I profaned my heritage and gave them into your hand. You did not show mercy to them. You made your yoke very heavy on the aged.

I did not spend my time with other people laughing and having a good time. In obedience to your orders I stayed by myself and was filled with anger.

The Lord Jehovah says: 'Because Edom has acted against the house of Judah by taking vengeance, and has incurred grievous guilt, and avenged themselves upon them,

Son of man, because Tyre has said concerning Jerusalem, 'Aha, the gateway of the peoples is broken; it has opened to me. I will be filled, now that she is laid waste.'

You will be covered with shame for the violence done to your brother Jacob. You will be destroyed and disgraced for a very long time.

And I am very angry with the nations that are at ease (secure). I was but a little angered and they caused my anger to grow into fury.'

Reacheth

Jehovah said: What have you done? Listen! Your brother's blood (life) cries out to me from the ground.

Then they said: Let us build ourselves a city, with a lofty tower that reaches into space, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth.

I said, O my God, shame keeps me from lifting up my face (praying) to you (being in your presence), my God: for our sins have increased higher than our heads and our evil-doing has come up to heaven.

For her sins have reached up to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.
