Final Warnings To The Church At Corinth

1 This is the third time that I am visiting you. Every fact shall be sustained and confirmed by the testimony of two or three witnesses.(A)

1 (A)This is the third time I am coming to you. (B)Every (a)fact (b)is to be confirmed by the (c)testimony of two or three witnesses.

1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.

1 This is the third time I am coming to you.(A) Every fact must be established by the testimony(a) of two or three witnesses.(B)(b)

1 This will be the third time I am coming to you. "Every accusation must be verified by two or three witnesses."

2 I have already warned those who have sinned in the past and all the rest as well, and I warn them now even though I am absent [from you] as I did when I was with you the second time, that if I come back I will not spare anyone,

2 I have previously said when present the second time, and though now absent I say in advance to those who have (C)sinned in the past and to all the rest as well, that (D)if I come again I will not (E)spare anyone,

2 I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:

2 I gave a warning when I was present the second time, and now I give a warning(C) while I am absent to those who sinned before and to all the rest: If I come again, I will not be lenient,

2 I have already warned those who sinned previously and all the rest. Although I am absent now, I am warning them as I did on my second visit: If I come back, I will not spare you,

3 since you seek [forensic] proof that Christ is speaking in and through me. He is not weak or ineffective in dealing with you, but powerful within you.

3 since you are (F)seeking for proof of the (G)Christ who speaks in me, and who is not weak toward you, but (H)mighty in you.

3 Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.

3 since you seek proof of Christ speaking in me.(D) He is not weak toward you, but powerful among you.

3 since you want proof that the Messiah is speaking through me. He is not weak in dealing with you but is making his power felt among you.

4 For even though He was crucified in weakness [yielding Himself], yet He lives [resurrected] by the power of God [His Father]. For we too are weak in Him [as He was humanly weak], yet we are alive and well [in fellowship] with Him because of the power of God directed toward you.

4 For indeed He was (I)crucified because of weakness, yet He lives (J)because of the power of God. For we also are (K)weak (d)in Him, yet (L)we will live with Him because of the power of God directed toward you.

4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.

4 In fact, He was crucified(E) in weakness, but He lives(F) by God’s power. For we also are weak in Him,(G) yet toward you we will live(H) with Him by God’s power.

4 Though he was crucified in weakness, he lives by God's power. We are weak with him, but by God's power we will live for you.

5 Test and evaluate yourselves to see whether you are in the faith and living your lives as [committed] believers. Examine yourselves [not me]! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves [by an ongoing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you fail the test and are rejected as counterfeit?

5 (M)Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; (N)examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you (e)(O)fail the test?

5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?

5 Test(I) yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless you fail the test.(c)

5 Keep examining yourselves to see whether you are continuing in the faith. Test yourselves! You know, don't you, that Jesus the Messiah lives in you? Could it be that you are failing the test?

6 But I hope you will acknowledge that we do not fail the test nor are we to be rejected.

6 But I trust that you will realize that we ourselves (f)do not fail the test.

6 But I trust that ye shall know that we are not reprobates.

6 And I hope you will recognize that we do not fail the test.

6 I hope you will realize that we haven't failed our test.

7 But I pray to God that you may do nothing wrong. Not so that we [and our teaching] may appear to be approved, but that you may continue doing what is right, even though we [by comparison] may seem to have failed.

7 Now we pray to God that you do no wrong; not that we ourselves may appear approved, but that you may do what is right, even though we may (g)appear unapproved.

7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.

7 Now we pray to God that you do nothing wrong—not that we may appear to pass the test, but that you may do what is right,(J) even though we may appear to fail.

7 We pray to God that you will not do anything wrong not to show that we have not failed the test, but so that you may do what is right, even if we seem to have failed.

8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but only for the truth [and the gospel—the good news of salvation].

8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but only for the truth.

8 For we can do nothing against the truth, but for the truth.

8 For we are not able to do anything against the truth,(K) but only for the truth.

8 For we cannot do anything against the truth, but only for the truth.

9 We are glad when we are weak [since God’s power comes freely through us], but you [by comparison] are strong. We also pray for this, that you be made complete [fully restored, growing and maturing in godly character and spirit—pleasing your heavenly Father by the life you live].

9 For we rejoice when we ourselves are (P)weak but you are strong; this we also pray for, (h)that you be (Q)made complete.

9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.

9 In fact, we rejoice when we are weak and you are strong.(L) We also pray that you become fully mature.(d)

9 We are glad when we are weak and you are strong. That is what we are praying for your maturity.

10 For this reason I am writing these things while absent from you, so that when I come, I will not need to deal severely [with you], in my use of the authority which the Lord has given me [to be used] for building you up and not for tearing you down.

10 For this reason I am writing these things while absent, so that when present (R)I need not use (S)severity, in accordance with the (T)authority which the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.

10 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.

10 This is why I am writing these things while absent, that when I am there I will not use severity, in keeping with the authority the Lord gave me for building up(M) and not for tearing down.(N)

10 For this reason I am writing this while I am away from you: When I come I do not want to be severe in using the authority the Lord gave me to build you up and not to tear you down.
