Final Warnings To The Church At Corinth
1 This intended visit of mine is my third visit to you. "On the evidence of two or three witnesses every charge shall be sustained."
1 This is the third time I am coming to you. In the mouth of two or three witnesses shall every word be established.
1 (A)This is the third time I am coming to you. (B)Every (a)fact (b)is to be confirmed by the (c)testimony of two or three witnesses.
1 This is the third time I am coming to you.(A) Every fact must be established by the testimony(a) of two or three witnesses.(B)(b)
1 This will be the third time I am coming to you. "Every accusation must be verified by two or three witnesses."
2 Those who cling to their old sins, and indeed all of you, I have forewarned and still forewarn (as I did on my second visit when present, so I do now, though absent)
2 I told you before, and foretell you, as if I were present, the second time; and being absent now I write to them which heretofore have sinned, and to all other, that, if I come again, I will not spare:
2 I have previously said when present the second time, and though now absent I say in advance to those who have (C)sinned in the past and to all the rest as well, that (D)if I come again I will not (E)spare anyone,
2 I gave a warning when I was present the second time, and now I give a warning(C) while I am absent to those who sinned before and to all the rest: If I come again, I will not be lenient,
2 I have already warned those who sinned previously and all the rest. Although I am absent now, I am warning them as I did on my second visit: If I come back, I will not spare you,
3 since you want a practical proof of the fact that Christ speaks by my lips--He who is not feeble towards you, but powerful among you.
3 Since ye seek a proof of Christ speaking in me, which to you-ward is not weak, but is mighty in you.
3 since you are (F)seeking for proof of the (G)Christ who speaks in me, and who is not weak toward you, but (H)mighty in you.
3 since you seek proof of Christ speaking in me.(D) He is not weak toward you, but powerful among you.
3 since you want proof that the Messiah is speaking through me. He is not weak in dealing with you but is making his power felt among you.
4 For though it is true that He was crucified through weakness, yet He now lives through the power of God. We also are weak, sharing His weakness, but with Him we shall be full of life to deal with you through the power of God.
4 For though he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God. For we also are weak in him, but we shall live with him by the power of God toward you.
4 For indeed He was (I)crucified because of weakness, yet He lives (J)because of the power of God. For we also are (K)weak (d)in Him, yet (L)we will live with Him because of the power of God directed toward you.
4 In fact, He was crucified(E) in weakness, but He lives(F) by God’s power. For we also are weak in Him,(G) yet toward you we will live(H) with Him by God’s power.
4 Though he was crucified in weakness, he lives by God's power. We are weak with him, but by God's power we will live for you.
5 Test yourselves to discover whether you are true believers: put your own selves under examination. Or do you not know that Jesus Christ is within you, unless you are insincere?
5 Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove your own selves. Know ye not your own selves, how that Jesus Christ is in you, except ye be reprobates?
5 (M)Test yourselves to see if you are in the faith; (N)examine yourselves! Or do you not recognize this about yourselves, that Jesus Christ is in you—unless indeed you (e)(O)fail the test?
5 Test(I) yourselves to see if you are in the faith. Examine yourselves. Or do you yourselves not recognize that Jesus Christ is in you?—unless you fail the test.(c)
5 Keep examining yourselves to see whether you are continuing in the faith. Test yourselves! You know, don't you, that Jesus the Messiah lives in you? Could it be that you are failing the test?
7 And our prayer to God is that you may do nothing wrong; not in order that our sincerity may be demonstrated, but that you may do what is right, even though our sincerity may seem to be doubtful.
7 Now I pray to God that ye do no evil; not that we should appear approved, but that ye should do that which is honest, though we be as reprobates.
7 Now we pray to God that you do no wrong; not that we ourselves may appear approved, but that you may do what is right, even though we may (g)appear unapproved.
7 Now we pray to God that you do nothing wrong—not that we may appear to pass the test, but that you may do what is right,(J) even though we may appear to fail.
7 We pray to God that you will not do anything wrong not to show that we have not failed the test, but so that you may do what is right, even if we seem to have failed.
9 and it is a joy to us when we are powerless, but you are strong. This we also pray for--the perfecting of your characters.
9 For we are glad, when we are weak, and ye are strong: and this also we wish, even your perfection.
9 For we rejoice when we ourselves are (P)weak but you are strong; this we also pray for, (h)that you be (Q)made complete.
9 In fact, we rejoice when we are weak and you are strong.(L) We also pray that you become fully mature.(d)
9 We are glad when we are weak and you are strong. That is what we are praying for your maturity.
10 For this reason I write thus while absent, that when present I may not have to act severely in the exercise of the authority which the Lord has given me for building up, and not for pulling down.
10 Therefore I write these things being absent, lest being present I should use sharpness, according to the power which the Lord hath given me to edification, and not to destruction.
10 For this reason I am writing these things while absent, so that when present (R)I need not use (S)severity, in accordance with the (T)authority which the Lord gave me for building up and not for tearing down.
10 This is why I am writing these things while absent, that when I am there I will not use severity, in keeping with the authority the Lord gave me for building up(M) and not for tearing down.(N)
10 For this reason I am writing this while I am away from you: When I come I do not want to be severe in using the authority the Lord gave me to build you up and not to tear you down.
