Now the rest of the people that were left in the city, and the fugitives that fell away to the king of Babylon, with the remnant of the multitude, did Nebuzaradan the captain of the guard carry away.
Then the Lord said to me, “Even
though Moses and Samuel were to stand before Me, My heart would not be with this people; send them away from My presence and let them go!
As for the rest of the people who were left in the city, the
deserters who had gone over to him and the rest of the people who remained, Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard carried them into exile in Babylon.
Now on the tenth day of the fifth month, which was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of Babylon, Nebuzaradan the captain of the bodyguard, who was in the service of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem.
One third you shall burn in the fire at the center of the city, when the
days of the siege are completed. Then you shall take one third and strike it with the sword all around the city, and one third you shall scatter to the wind; and I will unsheathe a sword behind them.
So they will
know that I am the Lord when I scatter them among the nations and spread them among the countries.
scatter you among the nations and I will disperse you through the lands, and I will consume your uncleanness from you.
