And Crispus, the chief ruler of the synagogue, believed on the Lord with all his house; and many of the Corinthians hearing believed, and were baptized.
1 Corinthians 1:14
I thank God that I baptized none of you except Crispus and Gaius,
And they all took hold of
Sosthenes, the leader of the synagogue, and began beating him in front of the judgment seat. But Gallio was not concerned about any of these things.
the reading of the Law and the Prophets the synagogue officials sent to them, saying, “Brethren, if you have any word of exhortation for the people, say it.”
While He was still speaking, they *came from the house of the
synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?”
a devout man and
one who feared God with all his household, and gave many alms to the Jewish people and prayed to God continually.
A woman named Lydia, from the city of
Thyatira, a seller of purple fabrics, a worshiper of God, was listening; and the Lord opened her heart to respond to the things spoken by Paul.
All the men of his household, who were
born in the house or bought with money from a foreigner, were circumcised with him.
For I have
chosen him, so that he may command his children and his household after him to keep the way of the Lord by doing righteousness and justice, so that the Lord may bring upon Abraham what He has spoken about him.”
If it is disagreeable in your sight to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves today whom you will serve: whether the gods which your fathers served which were beyond the River, or
the gods of the Amorites in whose land you are living; but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”
Now when they heard this, they were
pierced to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “ Brethren, what shall we do?”
But when they believed Philip
preaching the good news about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, they were being baptized, men and women alike.
Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit,
And He said to them,
“ Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him
whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher?
1 Corinthians 1:13
Has Christ been divided? Paul was not crucified for you, was he? Or were you baptized in the name of Paul?
Some were being persuaded by the things spoken, but others would not believe.
