that I have conceal'd nothing that might be useful to you, but have inform'd you of it, and instructed you therein, both in publick and in private:

How that

I add, we that are better inform'd ought to bear the infirmities of the weak, and not study our own pleasure.

if others partake of your substance, have not I a better title? nevertheless, I have not made use of this privilege; but bear with any thing rather than obstruct the gospel of Christ.

when I was present among you, and in want, I was chargeable to no man: for the brethren which came from Macedonia, supplied my necessities: and as I have, so I always shall keep myself from being burdensome to you.

for in what were ye inferior to other churches, except it be that I myself was not burdensome to you? an injury I hope you will easily forgive.

let him that stole, steal no more: but rather let him labour, to encrease his fortune with his own hands, that he may have wherewithal to relieve the needy:

to study your own quiet, to mind your own affairs, and follow some handicraft trade, as we recommended it to you:

and we exhort you, brethren, reprove the disorderly, comfort the pusillanimous, support the weak, and be patient toward all men.

Wherefore "strengthen your weak hands and your feeble knees.

remember those that are in chains, as if you were confin'd with them; and those who suffer adversity, as being your selves of the same body.

It is

heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: what ye have received gratis, give gratis.

the king shall say to those on his right hand, come, ye blessed of my father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world.

Then he said to the Pharisee, that had invited him, when you give a dinner, or a supper, don't call your friends, or your brethren, or kinsmen, or wealthy neighbours; lest they invite you again, and make you a requital.

for you are sensible of the beneficence of our Lord Jesus Christ; powerful as he was, for your sake he became poor, that you through his poverty might be made rich.

remember, " he who sows sparingly, shall reap also sparingly: and he who sows bountifully, shall reap also bountifully."

not that I desire a present; but what I desire is, that the fruits of your liberality may greatly redound to your own account.

but don't forget to be beneficent to the community; for such sacrifice is acceptable to God.
