Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
And there occurred a great uproar; and some of
the scribes of the Pharisaic party stood up and began to argue heatedly, saying, “ We find nothing wrong with this man; suppose a spirit or an angel has spoken to him?”
and when they had gone aside, they began talking to one another, saying, “
This man is not doing anything worthy of death or imprisonment.”
Then Pilate said to the chief priests and the crowds, “
I find no guilt in this man.”
Pilate *said to Him, “What is truth?”And when he had said this, he
went out again to the Jews and *said to them, “ I find no guilt in Him.
If, then, I am a wrongdoer and have committed anything worthy of death, I do not refuse to die; but if none of those things is true of which these men accuse me, no one can hand me over to them. I
appeal to Caesar.”
Then the officials and all the people
said to the priests and to the prophets, “No death sentence for this man! For he has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”
Moreover Jeremiah said to King Zedekiah, “
In what way have I sinned against you, or against your servants, or against this people, that you have put me in prison?
