And it came to pass, that after three days Paul called the chief of the Jews together: and when they were come together, he said unto them, Men and brethren, though I have committed nothing against the people, or customs of our fathers, yet was I delivered prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
Paul, looking intently at
the Council, said, “ Brethren, I have lived my life with a perfectly good conscience before God up to this day.”
the governor had nodded for him to speak, Paul responded:“Knowing that for many years you have been a judge to this nation, I cheerfully make my defense,
while Paul said in his own defense, “
I have committed no offense either against the Law of the Jews or against the temple or against Caesar.”
I was in fact kidnapped from the land of the Hebrews, and even here I have done nothing that they should have put me into the dungeon.”
commander came up and took hold of him, and ordered him to be bound with two chains; and he began asking who he was and what he had done.
When these had come to
Caesarea and delivered the letter to the governor, they also presented Paul to him.
Neither in the temple, nor in the synagogues, nor in the city itself did they find me carrying on a discussion with anyone or causing a riot.
so that my
imprisonment in the cause of Christ has become well known throughout the whole praetorian guard and to everyone else,
