And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet.
Israel has sinned, and
they have also transgressed My covenant which I commanded them. And they have even taken some of the things under the ban and have both stolen and deceived. Moreover, they have also put them among their own things.
2 Kings 5:21
So Gehazi pursued Naaman. When Naaman saw one running after him, he came down from the chariot to meet him and said, “Is all well?”
“But cursed be the
swindler who has a male in his flock and vows it, but sacrifices a blemished animal to the Lord, for I am a great King,” says the Lord of hosts, “and My name is feared among the nations.”
“Will a man
rob God? Yet you are robbing Me! But you say, ‘How have we robbed You?’ In tithes and offerings.
Now he said this, not because he was concerned about the poor, but because he was a thief, and as he
had the money box, he used to pilfer what was put into it.
1 Timothy 6:10
the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.

having eyes full of adultery that never cease from sin,
enticing unstable souls, having a heart trained in greed, accursed children;

“So when you give to the poor, do not sound a trumpet before you, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and in the streets, so that they may be honored by men. Truly I say to you, they have their reward in full.
But they do all their deeds to be noticed by men; for they broaden their phylacteries and lengthen the tassels of their garments.
from selfishness or empty conceit, but with humility of mind regard one another as more important than yourselves;
So then, none of you can be My disciple who does not give up all his own possessions.
