Moab

11 Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Moab and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because he burned the bones of the king of Edom to lime.

11 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Moab, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because he burned the bones of the king of Edom into lime:

11 The Lord says: I will not relent from punishing Moab for three crimes, even four, because he burned to lime the bones of the king of Edom.

11 This is what the LORD says: "For three transgressions of Moab because they cremated the bones of the king of Edom, burning them to lime.

11 Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Moab [descendants of Lot] and for four [for multiplied delinquencies], I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because he burned the bones of the king of Edom [Esau's descendant] into lime.

22 "So I will send fire upon Moab And it will consume the citadels of Kerioth; And Moab will die amid tumult, With war cries and the sound of a trumpet.

22 But I will send a fire upon Moab, and it shall devour the palaces of Kerioth: and Moab shall die with tumult, with shouting, and with the sound of the trumpet:

22 Therefore, I will send fire against Moab, and it will consume the citadels of Kerioth. Moab will die with a tumult, with shouting and the sound of the ram's horn.

22 So I will send down fire upon Moab, and it will devour the fortified citadels of Kerioth. Moab will die in the uproar of battle, with a war cry and with the trumpeting of the ram's horn.

22 So I will send a fire upon Moab and it shall devour the strongholds of Kerioth, and Moab shall die amid uproar, shouting, and the sound of the trumpet.

33 "I will also cut off the judge from her midst And slay all her princes with him," says the LORD.

33 And I will cut off the judge from the midst thereof, and will slay all the princes thereof with him, saith the LORD.

33 I will cut off the judge from the land and kill all its officials with him. The Lord has spoken.

33 I will execute their rulers among them, killing all of their officials as well," says the LORD.

33 And I will cut off the ruler from its midst and will slay all its princes with him, says the Lord.

Judgment On Judah

44 Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Judah and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they rejected the law of the LORD And have not kept His statutes; Their lies also have led them astray, Those after which their fathers walked.

44 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Judah, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they have despised the law of the LORD, and have not kept his commandments, and their lies caused them to err, after the which their fathers have walked:

44 The Lord says: I will not relent from punishing Judah for three crimes, even four, because they have rejected the law of the Lord and have not kept His statutes. The lies that their ancestors followed have led them astray.

44 This is what the LORD says: "For three transgressions of Judah and now for a fourth I will not turn away; because they rejected the Law of the LORD and did not keep his statutes. Their own lies made them wander off, following along the same path their ancestors walked.

44 Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Judah and for four [for multiplied delinquencies], I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they have despised and rejected the law of the Lord and have not kept His commandments, but their lies, after which their fathers have walked, caused them to err and go astray.

55 "So I will send fire upon Judah And it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem."

55 But I will send a fire upon Judah, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem.

55 Therefore, I will send fire against Judah, and it will consume the citadels of Jerusalem.

55 So I will send down fire upon Judah, and it will devour the fortified citadels of Jerusalem."

55 So I will send a fire upon Judah and it shall devour the strongholds of Jerusalem.

Judgment On Israel

66 Thus says the LORD, "For three transgressions of Israel and for four I will not revoke its punishment, Because they sell the righteous for money And the needy for a pair of sandals.

66 Thus saith the LORD; For three transgressions of Israel, and for four, I will not turn away the punishment thereof; because they sold the righteous for silver, and the poor for a pair of shoes;

66 The Lord says: I will not relent from punishing Israel for three crimes, even four, because they sell a righteous person for silver and a needy person for a pair of sandals.

66 This is what the LORD says: "For three transgressions of Israel and now for a fourth I will not turn away; because they sold the righteous for money, and the poor for sandals,

66 Thus says the Lord: For three transgressions of Israel and for four [for multiplied delinquencies], I will not reverse the punishment of it or revoke My word concerning it, because they have sold the [strictly] just and uncompromisingly righteous for silver and the needy for a pair of sandals;

77 "These who pant after the very dust of the earth on the head of the helpless Also turn aside the way of the humble; And a man and his father resort to the same girl In order to profane My holy name.

77 That pant after the dust of the earth on the head of the poor, and turn aside the way of the meek: and a man and his father will go in unto the same maid, to profane my holy name:

77 They trample the heads of the poor on the dust of the ground and block the path of the needy. A man and his father have sexual relations with the same girl, profaning My holy name.

77 moving quickly to rub the face of the needy in the dirt. Corrupting the ways of the humble, a man and his father go to the same woman, deliberately defiling my holy name.

77 They pant after [the sight of] the poor [reduced to such misery that they will be throwing] dust of the earth on their heads [in token of their grief]; they defraud and turn aside the humble [who are too meek to defend themselves]; and a man and his father will have sexual relations with the same maiden, so that My holy name is profaned.

88 "On garments taken as pledges they stretch out beside every altar, And in the house of their God they drink the wine of those who have been fined.

88 And they lay themselves down upon clothes laid to pledge by every altar, and they drink the wine of the condemned in the house of their god.

88 They stretch out beside every altar on garments taken as collateral, and they drink in the house of their God wine obtained through fines.

88 They lay down beside every altar, on garments pledged as collateral, drinking wine paid for through fines imposed by the temple of their gods.

88 And they lay themselves down beside every [pagan] altar upon clothes they have taken in pledge [for indebtedness], and in the house of their God [in daring contempt of Him] they frivolously drink the wine which has been exacted from those [unjustly] fined.

99 "Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorite before them, Though his height was like the height of cedars And he was strong as the oaks; I even destroyed his fruit above and his root below.

99 Yet destroyed I the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars, and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above, and his roots from beneath.

99 Yet I destroyed the Amorite as Israel advanced; his height was like the cedars, and he was as sturdy as the oaks; I destroyed his fruit above and his roots beneath.

99 Yet it was I who destroyed the Amorites in front of them, though their height seemed like a cedar, though their strength seemed like an oak, but whose fruit I destroyed from above and the roots from beneath.

99 Yet I destroyed the Amorite before them, whose height was like the height of the cedars and he was strong as the oaks; yet I destroyed his fruit from above and his roots from beneath.

1010 "It was I who brought you up from the land of Egypt, And I led you in the wilderness forty years That you might take possession of the land of the Amorite.

1010 Also I brought you up from the land of Egypt, and led you forty years through the wilderness, to possess the land of the Amorite.

1010 And I brought you from the land of Egypt and led you 40 years in the wilderness in order to possess the land of the Amorite.

1010 Furthermore, I brought you up from the land of Egypt, leading you in the wilderness for 40 years, to take possession of the land of the Amorites.

1010 Also I brought you up out of the land of Egypt and led you forty years through the wilderness to possess the land of the Amorite.

1111 "Then I raised up some of your sons to be prophets And some of your young men to be Nazirites. Is this not so, O sons of Israel?" declares the LORD.

1111 And I raised up of your sons for prophets, and of your young men for Nazarites. Is it not even thus, O ye children of Israel? saith the LORD.

1111 I raised up some of your sons as prophets and some of your young men as Nazirites. Is this not the case, Israelites? [This is]*The bracketed text has been added for clarity. the Lord's declaration.

1111 I also raised up your sons to be prophets, and from your young men I raised up Nazirites. Is this not true, people of Israel?" declares the LORD.

1111 And I raised up some of your sons for prophets and some of your young men for dedicated ones [Nazirites]. Is this not true, O you children of Israel? says the Lord.

1212 "But you made the Nazirites drink wine, And you commanded the prophets saying, 'You shall not prophesy!'

1212 But ye gave the Nazarites wine to drink; and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

1212 But you made the Nazirites drink wine and commanded the prophets: Do not prophesy.

1212 "But you forced the Nazirites to drink wine, and commanded the prophets, "You are not to prophesy!'

1212 But you gave the dedicated ones [the Nazirites] wine to drink and commanded the prophets, saying, Prophesy not.

1313 "Behold, I am weighted down beneath you As a wagon is weighted down when filled with sheaves.

1313 Behold, I am pressed under you, as a cart is pressed that is full of sheaves.

1313 Look, I am about to crush [you] in your place as a wagon full of sheaves crushes [grain].

1313 "Oh, how I am burdened down with you, as a wagon is overloaded with harvested grain!

1313 Behold, I am pressed under you and I will press you down in your place as a cart presses that is full of sheaves.

1414 "Flight will perish from the swift, And the stalwart will not strengthen his power, Nor the mighty man save his life.

1414 Therefore the flight shall perish from the swift, and the strong shall not strengthen his force, neither shall the mighty deliver himself:

1414 Escape will fail the swift, the strong one will not prevail by his strength, and the brave will not save his life.

1414 So the swift runner will not escape, the valiant will not fortify his strength, and the mighty warrior will not save his life.

1414 And flight shall be lost to the swift and refuge shall fail him; the strong shall not retain and confirm his strength, neither shall the mighty deliver himself.

1515 "He who grasps the bow will not stand his ground, The swift of foot will not escape, Nor will he who rides the horse save his life.

1515 Neither shall he stand that handleth the bow; and he that is swift of foot shall not deliver himself: neither shall he that rideth the horse deliver himself.

1515 The archer will not stand [his ground], the [one who is] swift of foot will not save himself, and the one riding a horse will not save his life.

1515 The skilled archer will not be able to stand, the swift runner will not survive, and the mounted rider will not preserve his own life.

1515 Neither shall he stand who handles the bow, and he who is swift of foot shall not deliver himself; neither shall he who rides the horse deliver his life.

1616 "Even the bravest among the warriors will flee naked in that day," declares the LORD.

1616 And he that is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked in that day, saith the LORD.

1616 Even the most courageous of the warriors will flee naked on that day- the Lord's declaration.

1616 Even the bravest of elite troops will run away naked at that time," declares the LORD.

1616 And he who is courageous among the mighty shall flee away naked on that day, says the Lord.
