Daniel Praises God And Interprets The King's Dream

²⁵ Thereupon, Arioch - with haste, brought in Daniel before the king, - and, thus, he said to him - I have found a man of the sons of the exile of Judah, who, the interpretation - unto the king, will make known. ²⁶ The king answered and said unto Daniel, whose name was Belteshazzar, - Art thou able to make known unto me the dream which I have seen, and the interpretation thereof? ²⁷ Daniel answered before the king, and said, - The secret which the king hath asked, the wise men, the magicians, the sacred scribes, the astrologers, are not able to declare unto the king;

Daniel 1:7

and the ruler of the eunuchs gave them names, - yea he gave to Daniel the name of Belteshazzar, and to Hananiah of Shadrach, and to Mishael of Meshach, and to Azariah of Abed-nego.

Howbeit, at last, came before me - Daniel, whose, name, was Belteshazzar, after the name of my god, and in whom is the spirit of the holy gods; and, the dream - before him, I told saying :

Forasmuch as, a distinguished spirit, and knowledge and intelligence, ability to interpret dreams and solve riddles and unravel knotty points, were found in the same Daniel, whom the king named Belteshazzar, now let, Daniel, be called, and, the interpretation, will he declare.

I, however, have heard concerning thee, that thou art able, interpretations, to unfold, and, knotty points, to unravel, - Now, if thou be able, the writing, to read, and, the interpretation thereof, to make known unto me, with purple, shalt thou be clothed, and, a chain of gold, shalt thou have upon thy neck, and, as the third in the kingdom, shalt thou have dominion.

This dream, have, I, King Nebuchadnezzar, seen. Thou, therefore, O Belteshazzar, the interpretation, do thou tell, forasmuch as, all the wise men of my kingdom, are unable, the interpretation, to make known to me, but, thou, art able, because, the spirit of the holy gods, is in thee.
