                                    1 Og Elihu tog til Orde og sagde:                                

                                    1 Then Elihu continued and said,

                                    2 "Holder du det for Ret, og kalder du det din Ret for Gud,                                

                                    2 “Do you think this is according to justice?Do you say, ‘My righteousness is more than God’s’?

                                    3 at du siger: "Hvad båder det mig, hvad hjælper det mig, at jeg ikke synder?"                                

                                    3 “For you say, ‘What advantage will it be to You?What profit will I have, more than if I had sinned?’

                                    4 Jeg vil give dig Svar og tillige med dig dine Venner:                                

                                    4 “I will answer you,And your friends with you.

                                    5 Løft dit Blik imod Himlen og se, læg Mærke til Skyerne, hvor højt de, er over dig!                                

                                    5 “Look at the heavens and see;And behold the clouds—they are higher than you.

                                    6 Hvis du synder, hvad skader du ham? Er din Brøde svar, hvad gør det da ham?                                

                                    6 “If you have sinned, what do you accomplish against Him?And if your transgressions are many, what do you do to Him?

                                    7 Er du retfærdig, hvad gavner du ham, hvad mon han får af din Hånd?                                

                                    7 “If you are righteous, what do you give to Him,Or what does He receive from your hand?

                                    8 Du Menneske, dig vedkommer din Gudløshed, dig, et Menneskebarn, din Retfærd!                                

                                    8 “Your wickedness is for a man like yourself,And your righteousness is for a son of man.

                                    9 Man skriger over den megen Vold, råber om Hjælp mod de mægtiges Arm,                                

                                    9 “Because of the multitude of oppressions they cry out;They cry for help because of the arm of the mighty.

                                    10 men siger ej: "Hvor er Gud, vor Skaber, som giver Lovsang om Natten,                                

                                    10 “But no one says, ‘Where is God my Maker,Who gives songs in the night,

                                    11 lærer os mer end Jordens Dyr, gør os vise fremfor Himlens Fugle?"                                

                                    11 Who teaches us more than the beasts of the earthAnd makes us wiser than the birds of the heavens?’

                                    12 Der råber man, uden at han giver Svar, over de ondes Hovmod;                                

                                    12 “There they cry out, but He does not answerBecause of the pride of evil men.

                                    13 til visse, Gud hører ej tomme Ord, den Almægtige ænser dem ikke,                                

                                    13 “Surely God will not listen to an empty cry,Nor will the Almighty regard it.

                                    14 endsige din Påstand om ikke at se ham! Vær stille for hans Åsyn og bi på ham!                                

                                    14 “How much less when you say you do not behold Him,The case is before Him, and you must wait for Him!

                                    15 Men nu, da hans Vrede ej bringer Straf og han ikke bekymrer sig stort om Synd,                                

                                    15 “And now, because He has not visited in His anger,Nor has He acknowledged transgression well,

                                    16 så oplader Job sin Mund med Tant, uden Indsigt taler han store Ord. ﻿                                

                                    16 So Job opens his mouth emptily;He multiplies words without knowledge.”
