Historical Prologue

⁵ On this side the Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to unfold this law, saying, ⁶ Jehovah our God spoke unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have stayed long enough in this mountain. ⁷ Turn and take your journey, and go to the hill-country of the Amorites, and unto all the neighbouring places in the plain, in the mountain, and in the lowland, and in the south, and by the seaside, the land of the Canaanites, and Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.

Exodus 3:1

And Moses tended the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian. And he led the flock behind the wilderness, and came to the mountain of God to Horeb.

Numbers 10:11-13

And it came to pass in the second year, in the second month, on the twentieth of the month, that the cloud was taken up from off the tabernacle of the testimony.

Exodus 17:6

Behold, I will stand before thee there upon the rock on Horeb; and thou shalt strike the rock, and there shall come water out of it, that the people may drink. And Moses did so before the eyes of the elders of Israel.
