Marriage And Divorce Laws
1 When a man shall take a wife and he married her, and it was if she shall find not favor in his eyes because he found in her a nakedness of the word: and he wrote for her a writing of cutting off, and gave in her hand, and sent her away from his house.
1 When a man hath taken a wife, and married her, and it come to pass that she find no favour in his eyes, because he hath found some uncleanness in her: then let him write her a bill of divorcement, and give it in her hand, and send her out of his house.
1 “When a man takes a wife and marries her, and it happens (a)that she finds no favor in his eyes because he has found some (A)indecency in her, and (B)he writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out from his house,
1 “If a man marries a woman, but she becomes displeasing to him because he finds something improper about her, he may write her a divorce certificate, hand it to her, and send her away from his house.(A)
1 "If a man chooses to enter into marriage with a woman, but she finds herself displeasing to him because he has found something objectionable about her, he must draw up divorce papers, hand them to her, and then send her out of his house.
2 And she shall go out of his house, and go and was to another man.
2 And when she is departed out of his house, she may go and be another man's wife.
2 and she leaves his house and goes and becomes another man’s wife,
2 If after leaving his house she goes and becomes another man’s wife,
2 If she goes out from his house, becomes the wife of another man,
3 And the last man hated her and wrote for her a writing of cutting off, and gave in her hand, and sent her away from his house; or if the last man shall die which took her to him for a wife,
3 And if the latter husband hate her, and write her a bill of divorcement, and giveth it in her hand, and sendeth her out of his house; or if the latter husband die, which took her to be his wife;
3 and if the latter husband (b)turns against her and writes her a certificate of divorce and puts it in her hand and sends her out of his house, or if the latter husband dies who took her to be his wife,
3 and the second man hates her, writes her a divorce certificate, hands it to her, and sends her away from his house or if he(a) dies,
3 and this second husband dislikes her, he, also, must draw up divorce papers, hand them to her, and then send her away from his house. Should the second husband die,
4 Her first husband who sent her away shall not be able to turn back to take her to be to him for a wife after that she was defiled; for it is an abomination before Jehovah: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin which Jehovah thy God gave to thee an inheritance.
4 Her former husband, which sent her away, may not take her again to be his wife, after that she is defiled; for that is abomination before the LORD: and thou shalt not cause the land to sin, which the LORD thy God giveth thee for an inheritance.
4 then her (C)former husband who sent her away is not allowed to take her again to be his wife, since she has been defiled; for that is an abomination before the Lord, and you shall not bring sin on the land which the Lord your God gives you as an inheritance.
4 the first husband who sent her away may not marry her again after she has been defiled, because that would be detestable to the Lord. You must not bring guilt on the land the Lord your God is giving you as an inheritance.(B)
4 her first husband who married her and divorced her earlier must not remarry her, because she was defiled, since this is detestable to the LORD. Don't defile the land that the LORD your God is about to give you as a possession.
5 When a man shall take a new wife, he shall not go out in the war, and nothing shall pass upon him for any word: he shall be free to his house one year, and gladden his wife whom he took.
5 When a man hath taken a new wife, he shall not go out to war, neither shall he be charged with any business: but he shall be free at home one year, and shall cheer up his wife which he hath taken.
5 “(D)When a man takes a new wife, he shall not go out with the army nor be charged with any duty; he shall be free at home one year and shall (E)give happiness to his wife whom he has taken.
5 “When a man takes a bride, he must not go out with the army or be liable for any duty. He is free to stay at home for one year, so that he can bring joy to the wife he has married.
5 "When a man is newly married, he must not be sent out to war or have a related duty placed on him. Let him stay home for one year and be happy with his wife whom he has married.
Safeguarding Life
6 He shall not take the two mill-stones as a pledge, and the rider, for it is taking the soul as a pledge.
6 No man shall take the nether or the upper millstone to pledge: for he taketh a man's life to pledge.
6 “No one shall take a handmill or an upper millstone in pledge, for he would be taking a life in pledge.
6 “Do not take a pair of millstones or an upper millstone as security for a debt, because that is like taking a life as security.
6 "Don't take a pair of millstones, especially the upper millstone, as collateral for a loan, because this means taking a man's livelihood.
7 If a man shall be found stealing a soul from his brethren from the sons of Israel, and shall lay hands upon him and sell him; and that thief died; and put thou away evil from the midst of thee.
7 If a man be found stealing any of his brethren of the children of Israel, and maketh merchandise of him, or selleth him; then that thief shall die; and thou shalt put evil away from among you.
7 “(F)If a man is (c)caught kidnapping any of his (d)countrymen of the sons of Israel, and he deals with him violently or sells him, then that thief shall die; so you shall purge the evil from among you.
7 “If a man is discovered kidnapping(C) one of his Israelite brothers, whether he treats him as a slave or sells him, the kidnapper must die. You must purge the evil from you.
7 "If a man is found kidnapping his relative, a fellow Israeli, and mistreats or sells him, that kidnapper must die. By doing this, you will remove this evil from among you.
8 Watch in the stroke of leprosy to watch greatly, and to do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them ye shall watch to do.
8 Take heed in the plague of leprosy, that thou observe diligently, and do according to all that the priests the Levites shall teach you: as I commanded them, so ye shall observe to do.

Consideration For People In Need
10 When thou shalt lend to thy friend the loan of any thing, thou shalt not go to his house to exchange his pledge:
10 When thou dost lend thy brother any thing, thou shalt not go into his house to fetch his pledge.
10 “(I)When you make your neighbor a loan of any sort, you shall not enter his house to take his pledge.
10 “When you make a loan of any kind to your neighbor, do not enter his house to collect what he offers as security.
10 "When you loan something to your neighbor, don't enter his house to seize what he offered as collateral.
11 Thou shalt stand without, and the man to whom was lent to him, shall bring out to thee the pledge without
11 Thou shalt stand abroad, and the man to whom thou dost lend shall bring out the pledge abroad unto thee.
11 You shall remain outside, and the man to whom you make the loan shall bring the pledge out to you.
11 You must stand outside while the man you are making the loan to brings the security out to you.
11 Stay outside and let the man to whom you made the loan bring it out to you.
12 And if the man be poor, he shall not sleep with his pledge.
12 And if the man be poor, thou shalt not sleep with his pledge:

13 In any case thou shalt deliver him the pledge again when the sun goeth down, that he may sleep in his own raiment, and bless thee: and it shall be righteousness unto thee before the LORD thy God.
13 (J)When the sun goes down you shall surely return the pledge to him, that he may sleep in his cloak and bless you; and (K)it will be righteousness for you before the Lord your God.
13 Be sure to return it(b) to him at sunset. Then he will sleep in it and bless you, and this will be counted as righteousness to you before the Lord your God.(E)
13 Be sure to return his garment to him at sunset so that he may sleep with it, and he will bless you. It will be a righteous deed in the presence of the LORD your God.
14 Thou shalt not oppress the poor and needy hireling from thy brethren, or from thy stranger which is in thy land in thy gates.
14 Thou shalt not oppress an hired servant that is poor and needy, whether he be of thy brethren, or of thy strangers that are in thy land within thy gates:
14 “(L)You shall not oppress a hired servant who is poor and needy, whether he is one of your (f)countrymen or one of your aliens who is in your land in your (g)towns.
14 “Do not oppress a hired hand who is poor and needy, whether one of your brothers or one of the foreigners residing within a town(c) in your land.
14 Don't take advantage of a hired person who is poor and needy, whether he's your fellow citizen or a foreigner who lives in your city.
15 In his day thou shalt give his hire, and the sun shall not go down upon it, for he is poor, and he lifted up his soul to it; and he will cry against thee to Jehovah, and it was sin in thee.
15 At his day thou shalt give him his hire, neither shall the sun go down upon it; for he is poor, and setteth his heart upon it: lest he cry against thee unto the LORD, and it be sin unto thee.
15 (M)You shall give him his wages on his day (h)before the sun sets, for he is poor and sets his (i)heart on it; so that (N)he will not cry against you to the Lord and it become sin in you.
15 You are to pay him his wages each day before the sun sets, because he is poor and depends on them.(F) Otherwise he will cry out to the Lord against you, and you will be held guilty.

16 The fathers shall not die for the sons, and the sons shall not die for the fathers: a man shall die in his sin.

17 Thou shalt not turn away the judgment of the stranger, the fatherless; and thou shalt not take as a pledge the garment of the widow.

20 When thou shalt beat thine olive thou shalt not go over the boughs after thee: to the stranger, to the orphan, and to the widow it shall be.
20 When thou beatest thine olive tree, thou shalt not go over the boughs again: it shall be for the stranger, for the fatherless, and for the widow.
20 (U)When you beat your olive tree, you shall not go over the boughs (o)again; it shall be (V)for the alien, for the (p)orphan, and for the widow.
20 When you knock down the fruit from your olive tree, you must not go over the branches again. What remains will be for the foreigner, the fatherless, and the widow.

21 And when thou shalt gather thy vineyard thou shalt not glean after thee; to the stranger, and to the orphan, and to the widow it shall be.
