¹⁶ The fathers shall not die for the sons, and the sons shall not die for the fathers: a man shall die in his sin. ¹⁷ Thou shalt not turn away the judgment of the stranger, the fatherless; and thou shalt not take as a pledge the garment of the widow. ¹⁸ And remember that thou wert a servant in Egypt, and Jehovah thy God will redeem thee from thence; for this I commend thee to do this word.
