Returning To The Lord

1 “So it shall be when all of these things have come upon you, (A)the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you (a)call them to mind (B)in all nations where the Lord your God has banished you,

1 And it shall come to pass, when all these things are come upon thee, the blessing and the curse, which I have set before thee, and thou shalt call them to mind among all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath driven thee,

1 “When all these things happen to you—the blessings and curses I have set before you—and you come to your senses while you are in all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you,

1 "When all these things happen to you both the blessings and the curses that I've presented to you and you take them seriously in all the nations where the LORD your God will deport you,

1 “So it shall be when all these things have come on you, the blessing and the curse which I have set before you, and you (a)call them to mind in all the nations where the Lord your God has driven you,

2 and you (C)return to the Lord your God and (b)obey Him (D)with all your heart and soul according to all that I command you today, you and your sons,

2 And shalt return unto the LORD thy God, and shalt obey his voice according to all that I command thee this day, thou and thy children, with all thine heart, and with all thy soul;

2 and you and your children return to the Lord your God and obey Him with all your heart and all your soul by doing(a) everything I am giving you today,

2 and when you you and your descendants, that is will have returned to him and obeyed all the commands that I'm giving you today with all your heart and soul,

2 and you have returned to the Lord your God and have listened to and obeyed His voice with all your heart and with all your soul, in accordance with everything that I am commanding you today, you and your children,

3 then the Lord your God will (E)restore (c)you from captivity, and have compassion on you, and (F)will gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has (G)scattered you.

3 That then the LORD thy God will turn thy captivity, and have compassion upon thee, and will return and gather thee from all the nations, whither the LORD thy God hath scattered thee.

3 then He will restore your fortunes,(b) have compassion on you, and gather you again from all the peoples where the Lord your God has scattered you.(A)

3 then the LORD your God will restore your fortunes and will show compassion to you. He will gather you from among the nations where he had scattered you.

3 then the Lord your God will restore your fortunes [in your return from exile], and have compassion on you, and will gather you together again from all the peoples (nations) where He has scattered you.

4 If your outcasts are at the ends of the (d)earth, (H)from there the Lord your God will gather you, and from there He will (e)bring you back.

4 If any of thine be driven out unto the outmost parts of heaven, from thence will the LORD thy God gather thee, and from thence will he fetch thee:

4 Even if your exiles are at the ends of the earth,(c) He will gather you and bring you back from there.(B)

4 Even if the LORD had banished you to the ends of the heavens, the LORD your God will gather you from there

4 Even if any of your dispersed are at the ends of the earth, the Lord your God will gather you together from there, and from there He will bring you back.

5 (I)The Lord your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you shall possess it; and He will prosper you and (J)multiply you more than your fathers.

5 And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.

5 The Lord your God will bring you into the land your fathers possessed, and you will take possession of it.(C) He will cause you to prosper and multiply you more than He did your fathers.

5 and he'll bring you to the land that your ancestors inherited. You'll possess it, you'll prosper, and you'll greatly multiply more than your ancestors did.

5 The Lord your God will bring you into the land which your fathers possessed, and you will take possession of it; and He shall make you prosper and multiply—even more than your fathers.

6 “Moreover (K)the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the heart of your (f)descendants, (L)to love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul, so that you may live.

6 And the LORD thy God will circumcise thine heart, and the heart of thy seed, to love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, that thou mayest live.

6 The Lord your God will circumcise your heart(D) and the hearts of your descendants, and you will love Him with all your heart and all your soul so that you will live.

6 Then the LORD your God will circumcise both your hearts and those of your descendants so that you can love him with your heart and with your soul and therefore live.

6 “And the Lord your God will circumcise your heart and the hearts of your descendants [that is, He will remove the desire to sin from your heart], so that you will love the Lord your God with all your heart and all your soul, so that you may live [as a recipient of His blessing].

7 (M)The Lord your God will (g)inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who persecuted you.

7 And the LORD thy God will put all these curses upon thine enemies, and on them that hate thee, which persecuted thee.

7 The Lord your God will put all these curses on your enemies who hate and persecute you.

7 Then the LORD your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate and persecute you."

7 The Lord your God will inflict all these curses on your enemies and on those who hate you, who have persecuted you.

8 And you shall again (h)obey the Lord, and observe all His commandments which I command you today.

8 And thou shalt return and obey the voice of the LORD, and do all his commandments which I command thee this day.

8 Then you will again obey Him and follow all His commands I am giving you today.

8 "So now, return and obey the LORD your God and observe all his commands that I'm giving you today,

8 And you shall again listen to and obey the voice of the Lord, and do all His commandments which I command you today.

9 (N)Then the Lord your God will (i)prosper you abundantly in all the work of your hand, in the (j)offspring of your (k)body and in the (l)offspring of your cattle and in the (m)produce of your ground, for (O)the Lord will again rejoice over you for good, just as He rejoiced over your fathers;

9 And the LORD thy God will make thee plenteous in every work of thine hand, in the fruit of thy body, and in the fruit of thy cattle, and in the fruit of thy land, for good: for the LORD will again rejoice over thee for good, as he rejoiced over thy fathers:

9 The Lord your God will make you prosper abundantly in all the work of your hands(E) with children,(d) the offspring of your livestock, and your land’s produce. Indeed, the Lord will again delight in your prosperity, as He delighted in that of your fathers,

9 and the LORD your God will prosper you abundantly in all that you do, along with your children, your livestock, and the produce of your fields, because the LORD your God will again be delighted with you for good, just as he was delighted with your ancestors,

9 Then the Lord your God shall make you abundantly prosperous in (b)everything that you do, in the offspring of your body and in the offspring of your cattle and in the produce of your land; for the Lord will again delight over you for good, just as He delighted over your fathers,

10 (n)if you (o)obey the Lord your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which (P)are written in this book of the law, (p)if you turn to the Lord your God (Q)with all your heart and soul.

10 If thou shalt hearken unto the voice of the LORD thy God, to keep his commandments and his statutes which are written in this book of the law, and if thou turn unto the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul.

10 when you obey the Lord your God by keeping His commands and statutes that are written in this book of the law and return to Him with all your heart and all your soul.

10 if you obey him and keep his commands and statutes that are written in this Book of the Law, and if you return to him with all your heart and soul.

10 if you listen to and obey the voice of the Lord your God to keep His commandments and His statutes which are written in this Book of the Law, and if you turn to the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul (your entire being).

The Choice Of Life And Death

11 “For this commandment which I command you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it (q)out of reach.

11 For this commandment which I command thee this day, it is not hidden from thee, neither is it far off.

11 “This command that I give you today is certainly not too difficult or beyond your reach.

11 Indeed, these commands that I'm giving you today are neither confusing nor unattainable for you.

11 “For this commandment which I am commanding you today is not too difficult for you, nor is it (c)out of reach.

12 It is not in heaven, (r)that you should say, ‘(R)Who will go up to heaven for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’

12 It is not in heaven, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go up for us to heaven, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

12 It is not in heaven so that you have to ask, ‘Who will go up to heaven, get it for us, and proclaim it to us so that we may follow it?’

12 They aren't in the heavens, so you have to ask, "Who'll go up to the heavens for us and get it for us so we can hear it and act on it?'

12 It is not [a secret hidden] in heaven, that you should say, ‘Who will go up to heaven for us and bring it to us, so that we may hear it and obey it?’

13 Nor is it beyond the sea, (s)that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us to get it for us and make us hear it, that we may observe it?’

13 Neither is it beyond the sea, that thou shouldest say, Who shall go over the sea for us, and bring it unto us, that we may hear it, and do it?

13 And it is not across the sea so that you have to ask, ‘Who will cross the sea, get it for us, and proclaim it to us so that we may follow it?’

13 And they aren't beyond the seas either, so you have to ask, "Who'll cross the sea and get it for us so we can hear it and act on it?'

13 Nor is it beyond the sea, that you should say, ‘Who will cross the sea for us and bring it to us, so that we may hear it and obey it?’

14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, that you may observe it.

14 But the word is very nigh unto thee, in thy mouth, and in thy heart, that thou mayest do it.

14 But the message is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may follow it.(F)

14 No, the word is very near you it's within your mouth and heart for you to attain."

14 But the word is very near you, in your mouth and in your heart, so that you may obey it.

Choose Between Life And Death

15 “See, (S)I have set before you today life and (t)prosperity, and death and (u)adversity;

15 See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil;

15 See, today I have set before you life and prosperity, death and adversity.(G)

15 "Look! Today I have set before you life and what is good, along with death and what is evil.

15 “Listen closely, I have set before you today life and prosperity (good), and death and adversity (evil);

16 in that I command you today (T)to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments, that you (U)may live and multiply, and that the Lord your God may bless you in the land where you are entering to possess it.

16 In that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it.

16 For(e) I am commanding you today to love the Lord your God, to walk in His ways, and to keep His commands, statutes, and ordinances, so that you may live(f) and multiply, and the Lord your God may bless you in the land you are entering to possess.

16 That's why I'm commanding you today to love the LORD your God by walking in his ways and by observing his commands, statutes, and ordinances, so that you may live long, increase, and so that the LORD your God may bless you in the land that you are about to enter to possess.

16 in that I command you today to love the Lord your God, to walk [that is, to live each and every day] in His ways and to keep His commandments and His statutes and His judgments (precepts), so that you will live and multiply, and that the Lord your God will bless you in the land which you are entering to possess.

17 But if your heart turns away and you will not obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them,

17 But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them;

17 But if your heart turns away and you do not listen and you are led astray to bow down to other gods and worship them,

17 But if you turn your heart away, and do not obey, but instead if you stray away to worship and serve other gods,

17 But if your heart turns away and you will not hear and obey, but are drawn away and worship other gods and serve them,

18 I declare to you today that (V)you shall surely perish. You will not prolong your days in the land where you are crossing the Jordan to enter (v)and possess it.

18 I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it.

18 I tell you today that you will certainly perish and will not live long in the land you are entering to possess across the Jordan.

18 I'm declaring to you today that you will surely be destroyed. You won't live long in the land that you are crossing the Jordan River to enter and possess.

18 I declare to you today that you will certainly perish. You will not live long in the land which you cross the Jordan to enter and possess.

19 (W)I call heaven and earth to witness against you today, that I have set before you life and death, (X)the blessing and the curse. So choose life in order that you may live, you and your (w)descendants,

19 I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:

19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. Choose life(H) so that you and your descendants may live,

19 I call heaven and earth to testify against you today! I've set life and death before you today: both blessings and curses. Choose life, that it may be well with you you and your children.

19 I call heaven and earth as witnesses against you today, that I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse; therefore, you shall choose life in order that you may live, you and your descendants,

20 (Y)by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and (Z)by holding fast to Him; (AA)for (x)this is your life and the length of your days, (y)that you may live in (AB)the land which the Lord swore to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give them.”

20 That thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.

20 love the Lord your God, obey Him, and remain faithful(g) to Him. For He is your life, and He will prolong your life in the land the Lord swore to give to your fathers(I) Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”

20 Love the LORD your God, obey his voice, and cling to him, because he is your life even your long life so that you may live in the land that the LORD promised to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob."

20 by loving the Lord your God, by obeying His voice, and by holding closely to Him; for He is your life [your good life, your abundant life, your fulfillment] and the length of your days, that you may live in the land which the Lord promised (swore) to give to your fathers, to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob.”
