4 For He chose us in Him, before the foundation of the world, to be holy and blameless in His sight.(b)(F) In love(c)

4 just as (K)He chose us in Him before (L)the foundation of the world, that we would be (M)holy and blameless before (d)Him. (N)In love

4 According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:

4 just as he chose us in the Messiah before the creation of the universe to be holy and blameless in his presence. In love

4 just as [in His love] He chose us in Christ [actually selected us for Himself as His own] before the foundation of the world, so that we would be holy [that is, consecrated, set apart for Him, purpose-driven] and blameless in His sight. In love

5 He predestined us to be adopted through Jesus Christ for Himself, according to His favor and will,

5 (e)He (O)predestined us to (P)adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, (Q)according to the (f)kind intention of His will,

5 Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will,

5 he predestined us for adoption to himself through Jesus the Messiah, according to the pleasure of his will,

5 He predestined and lovingly planned for us to be adopted to Himself as [His own] children through Jesus Christ, in accordance with the kind intention and good pleasure of His will—

6 to the praise of His glorious grace(G) that He favored us with in the Beloved.(H)

6 (R)to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in (S)the Beloved.

6 To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved.

6 so that we would praise his glorious grace that he gave us in the Beloved One.

6 to the praise of His glorious grace and favor, which He so freely bestowed on us in the Beloved [His Son, Jesus Christ].

7 We have redemption in Him(I) through His blood, the forgiveness(J) of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace

7 (T)In (g)Him we have (U)redemption (V)through His blood, the (W)forgiveness of our trespasses, according to (X)the riches of His grace

7 In union with him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our offenses, according to the riches of God's grace

7 In Him we have redemption [that is, our deliverance and salvation] through His blood, [which paid the penalty for our sin and resulted in] the forgiveness and complete pardon of our sin, in accordance with the riches of His grace

8 that He lavished on us with all wisdom and understanding.

8 which He (h)lavished on (i)us. In all wisdom and insight

8 Wherein he hath abounded toward us in all wisdom and prudence;

8 that he lavished on us, along with all wisdom and understanding,

8 which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and understanding [with practical insight]

9 He made known to us the mystery of His will,(K) according to His good pleasure that He planned in Him(L)

9 He (j)(Y)made known to us the mystery of His will, (Z)according to His (k)kind intention which He (AA)purposed in Him

9 Having made known unto us the mystery of his will, according to his good pleasure which he hath purposed in himself:

9 when he made known to us the secret of his will. This was according to his plan that he set forth in the Messiah

9 He made known to us the mystery of His will according to His good pleasure, which He purposed in Christ,

10 for the administration(d) of the days of fulfillment(e)—to bring everything together in the Messiah,(M) both things in heaven and things on earth(N) in Him.(O)

10 with a view to an administration (l)suitable to (AB)the fullness of the times, that is, (AC)the summing up of all things in Christ, things (m)in the heavens and things on the earth. In Him

10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of times he might gather together in one all things in Christ, both which are in heaven, and which are on earth; even in him:

10 to usher in the fullness of the times and to bring together in the Messiah all things in heaven and on earth.

10 with regard to the fulfillment of the times [that is, the end of history, the climax of the ages]—to bring all things together in Christ, [both] things in the heavens and things on the earth.

11 We have also received an inheritance(f) in Him, predestined(P) according to the purpose of the One who works out everything in agreement with the decision of His will,

11 (n)also we (o)(AD)have obtained an inheritance, having been (AE)predestined (AF)according to His purpose who works all things (AG)after the counsel of His will,

11 In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will:

11 In the Messiah we were also chosen when we were predestined according to the purpose of the one who does everything that he wills to do,

11 In Him also we have (d)received an inheritance [a destiny—we were claimed by God as His own], having been predestined (chosen, appointed beforehand) according to the purpose of Him who works everything in agreement with the counsel and design of His will,

12 so that we who had already put our hope(Q) in the Messiah might bring praise to His glory.(R)

12 to the end that we who were the first to hope in (p)Christ would be (AH)to the praise of His glory.

12 That we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ.

12 so that we who had already fixed our hope on the Messiah might live for his praise and glory.

12 so that we who were the first to hope in Christ [who first put our confidence in Him as our Lord and Savior] would exist to the praise of His glory.

13 When you heard the message of truth,(S) the gospel of your salvation, and when you believed in Him, you were also sealed with the promised Holy Spirit.(T)

13 In (q)Him, you also, after listening to (AI)the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation—having also (r)believed, you were (AJ)sealed in (s)Him with (AK)the Holy Spirit of promise,

13 In whom ye also trusted, after that ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also after that ye believed, ye were sealed with that holy Spirit of promise,

13 You, too, have heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed in the Messiah, you were sealed with the promised Holy Spirit,

13 In Him, you also, when you heard the word of truth, the good news of your salvation, and [as a result] believed in Him, were stamped with the seal of the promised Holy Spirit [the One promised by Christ] as owned and protected [by God].(A)

14 He is the down payment(U) of our inheritance, for the redemption of the possession,(g) to the praise of His glory.

14 who is (t)(AL)given as a pledge of (AM)our inheritance, with a view to the (AN)redemption of (AO)God’s own possession, (AP)to the praise of His glory.

14 Which is the earnest of our inheritance until the redemption of the purchased possession, unto the praise of his glory.

14 who is the guarantee of our inheritance until God redeems his own possession for his praise and glory.

14 The Spirit is the (e)guarantee [the first installment, the pledge, a foretaste] of our inheritance until the redemption of God’s own [purchased] possession [His believers], to the praise of His glory.
