make a mercy seat of pure gold, two and a half cubits long and one and a half cubits wide.
He shall take a
firepan full of coals of fire from upon the altar before the Lord and two handfuls of finely ground sweet incense, and bring it inside the veil.
1 Chronicles 28:11
Then David gave to his son Solomon
the plan of the porch of the temple, its buildings, its storehouses, its upper rooms, its inner rooms and the room for the mercy seat;
whom God displayed publicly as
a propitiation in His blood through faith. This was to demonstrate His righteousness, because in the forbearance of God He passed over the sins previously committed;
the fullness of the time came, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the Law,
gave Himself for us to redeem us from every lawless deed, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for good deeds.
and above it were the
cherubim of glory overshadowing the mercy seat; but of these things we cannot now speak in detail.
1 John 2:2
and He Himself is
the propitiation for our sins; and not for ours only, but also for those of the whole world.
