And Abraham said, I will swear.

Then a fugitive came and told Abram the Hebrew. Now he was living by the

oaks of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol and brother of Aner, and these were

allies with Abram.

If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace with all men.

For men swear by one greater than themselves, and with them an oath given as confirmation is an end of every dispute.
