Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
I know not
Then Israel said to Joseph, “Behold, I am about to die, but
God will be with you, and bring you back to the land of your fathers.
1 Samuel 20:3
vowed again, saying, “Your father knows well that I have found favor in your sight, and he has said, ‘Do not let Jonathan know this, or he will be grieved.’ But truly as the Lord lives and as your soul lives, there is hardly a step between me and death.”
Do not boast about tomorrow,
do not know what a day may bring forth.
Whatever your hand finds to do,
do it with all your might; for there is no activity or planning or knowledge or wisdom in Sheol where you are going.
In those days Hezekiah became mortally ill. And Isaiah the prophet the son of Amoz came to him and said to him, “Thus says the Lord, ‘ Set your house in order, for you shall die and not live.’”
Therefore, be on the alert—for you do not know when the master of the house is coming, whether in the evening, at midnight, or when the rooster crows, or in the morning—
Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away.
So then it does not depend on the man who wills or the man who
runs, but on God who has mercy.
