2 O Jehovah, I heard thy report, I was afraid: O Jehovah, preserve alive thy work in the midst of years, in the midst of years make known; in anger thou wilt remember mercy.

2 Lord, I have (A)heard (b)the report about You and (c)I (B)fear.O Lord, (C)revive (D)Your work in the midst of the years,In the midst of the years make it known;In wrath remember (d)(E)mercy.

2 O LORD, I have heard thy speech, and was afraid: O LORD, revive thy work in the midst of the years, in the midst of the years make known; in wrath remember mercy.

2 Lord, I have heard the report about You;Lord, I stand in awe of Your deeds.Revive Your work in these years;make it known in these years.In Your wrath remember mercy!

2 LORD, as I listen to what has been said about you, I am afraid. LORD, revive your work throughout all of our lives reveal yourself throughout all of our lives when you are angry, remember compassion.

3 God will come from Teman, and the Holy One from mount Paran Silence. His majesty covered the heavens, and his praise filled the earth.

4 And the brightness will be as the light; horns to him from his hand; and he set the hiding of his strength.

4 And his brightness was as the light; he had horns coming out of his hand: and there was the hiding of his power.

4 His brilliance is like light;rays are flashing from His hand.This is where His power is hidden.

4 His radiance is like sunlight; beams of light shine from his hand, where his strength lays hidden.

5 Before his face shall go the word, and a flame will go forth at his feet.

5 Before Him goes (L)pestilence,And (M)plague comes (e)after Him.

5 Before him went the pestilence, and burning coals went forth at his feet.

5 Plague goes before Him,and pestilence follows in His steps.

5 Before him pestilence walks, and disease follows behind him.

6 He stood, and he will measure the earth: he saw, and he will cause the nations to tremble, and the mountains of eternity will be dispersed, the perpetual hills bowed down: the goings everlasting to him.

6 He stood and surveyed the earth;He looked and (N)startled the nations.Yes, the perpetual mountains were shattered,The ancient hills (f)collapsed.His ways are (O)everlasting.

6 He stood, and measured the earth: he beheld, and drove asunder the nations; and the everlasting mountains were scattered, the perpetual hills did bow: his ways are everlasting.

6 He stands and shakes(b) the earth;He looks and startles the nations.The age-old mountains break apart;the ancient hills sink down.His pathways are ancient.

6 He stood up and shook the land; with his stare he startled the nations. The age-old mountains were shattered, and the ancient hilltops bowed down. His ways are eternal.

7 I saw the tents of Cushan under vanity: the curtains of the land of strife shall be moved.

7 I saw the tents of Cushan under (P)distress,The tent curtains of the land of (Q)Midian were trembling.

7 I saw the tents of Cushan in affliction: and the curtains of the land of Midian did tremble.

8 Was Jehovah angry against the rivers? if thine anger against the rivers? if thy wrath against the sea? if thou wilt ride upon thy horses, thy chariots of salvation?

8 Did the Lord rage against the (R)rivers,Or was Your anger against the rivers,Or was Your wrath against the (S)sea,That You (T)rode on Your horses,On Your (U)chariots of salvation?

8 Was the LORD displeased against the rivers? was thine anger against the rivers? was thy wrath against the sea, that thou didst ride upon thine horses and thy chariots of salvation?

8 Are You angry at the rivers, Lord?Is Your wrath against the rivers?Or is Your rage against the seawhen You ride on Your horses,Your victorious chariot?

8 Was the LORD displeased with the rivers? Was your anger directed against the watercourses or your wrath against the sea? Indeed, you rode upon your horses, upon your chariots of deliverance.

9 In nakedness thou shalt raise thy bow, the oaths of the tribes, he said. Silence. Thou wilt divide the earth with rivers.

12 In wrath thou wilt march through the land in anger, thou wilt thresh the nations

12 In indignation You (AA)marched through the earth;In anger You (h)(AB)trampled the nations.

12 Thou didst march through the land in indignation, thou didst thresh the heathen in anger.

12 You march across the earth with indignation;You trample down the nations in wrath.

13 Thou wentest forth to save thy people, to save thy Messiah; thou didst crush the head from the house of the unjust, making naked the foundation, even to the neck. Silence.

13 You went forth for the (AC)salvation of Your people,For the salvation of Your (AD)anointed.You struck the (AE)head of the house of the evilTo lay him open from (i)thigh to neck. Selah.

13 Thou wentest forth for the salvation of thy people, even for salvation with thine anointed; thou woundedst the head out of the house of the wicked, by discovering the foundation unto the neck. Selah.

13 You come out to save Your people,to save Your anointed.(g)You crush the leader of the house of the wickedand strip him from foot(h) to neck.Selah

13 You marched out to deliver your people, to deliver with your anointed. You struck the head of the house of the wicked; you stripped him naked from head to foot. Interlude

14 Thou didst pierce with rods the head of the leader: they will rush on as a tempest to scatter me their exultation as to devour the poor in secret

14 Thou didst strike through with his staves the head of his villages: they came out as a whirlwind to scatter me: their rejoicing was as to devour the poor secretly.

14 You pierce his headwith his own spears;his warriors storm out to scatter us,gloating as if ready to secretly devour the weak.

14 With his own lances you pierced the heads of his warriors, who came out like a windstorm to scatter us their joy is to devour the afflicted who are in hiding.

15 Thou didst tread upon the sea with thy horses, the heap of many waters

15 You (AI)trampled on the sea with Your horses,On the (AJ)surge of many waters.

15 Thou didst walk through the sea with thine horses, through the heap of great waters.

15 You tread the sea with Your horses,stirring up the great waters.(H)

15 You rode on the sea with your horses, even riding the crested waves of mighty waters.

Habakkuk's Confidence In God Expressed

16 I heard and my belly will tremble; at the voice my lips quivered: rottenness will come into my bones, and I shall tremble under me that I shall rest at the day of straits: to come up to the people he will invade him.

16 I heard and my (m)inward parts (AK)trembled,At the sound my lips quivered.Decay enters my (AL)bones,And in my place I tremble.Because I must (AM)wait quietly for the day of distress,(n)For the (AN)people to arise who will invade us.

16 When I heard, my belly trembled; my lips quivered at the voice: rottenness entered into my bones, and I trembled in myself, that I might rest in the day of trouble: when he cometh up unto the people, he will invade them with his troops.

16 I heard, and I trembled within;(I)my lips quivered at the sound.Rottenness entered my bones;I trembled where I stood.Now I must quietly wait for the day of distressto come against the people invading us.

16 I heard and I trembled within. My lips quivered at the noise. My legs gave way beneath me, and I trembled. Nevertheless, I await the day of distress that will dawn on our invaders.

Habakkuk Rejoices In The Lord

17 If the fig tree shall not blossom, and no produce in the vines; the work of the olive failed, and the fields made not food; and the sheep being cut off from the fold, and no oxen in the stalls.

17 Though the (AO)fig tree should not blossomAnd there be no (o)fruit on the vines,Though the yield of the (AP)olive should failAnd the fields produce no food,Though the (AQ)flock should be cut off from the foldAnd there be (AR)no cattle in the stalls,

17 Although the fig tree shall not blossom, neither shall fruit be in the vines; the labour of the olive shall fail, and the fields shall yield no meat; the flock shall be cut off from the fold, and there shall be no herd in the stalls:

17 Though the fig tree does not budand there is no fruit on the vines,though the olive crop failsand the fields produce no food,though there are no sheep in the penand no cattle in the stalls,

17 Even though the fig tree does not blossom, and there are no grapes on the vines; even if the olive harvest fails, and the fields produce nothing edible; even if the flock is snatched from the sheepfold, and there is no herd in the stalls

18 I will exult in Jehovah, I will rejoice in the God saving me.

18 Yet I will (AS)exult in the Lord,I will (AT)rejoice in the (AU)God of my salvation.

18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation.

18 yet I will triumph in Yahweh;I will rejoice in the God of my salvation!(J)

18 as for me, I will rejoice in the LORD. I will find my joy in the God who delivers me.

19 Jehovah the Lord my strength, and he will set my feet as the hinds, and upon my heights he will cause me to tread. For the overseer upon my stringed instruments.

19 The Lord (p)God is my (AV)strength,And (AW)He has made my feet like hinds’ feet,And makes me walk on my (AX)high places.For the choir director, on my stringed instruments.

19 The LORD God is my strength, and he will make my feet like hinds' feet, and he will make me to walk upon mine high places. To the chief singer on my stringed instruments.

19 Yahweh my Lord is my strength;He makes my feet like those of a deer(K)and enables me to walk on mountain heights!(L)For the choir director: on(i) stringed instruments.
