Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
And what shall I more say? for the time would fail me to tell of Gedeon, and of Barak, and of Samson, and of Jephthae; of David also, and Samuel, and of the prophets:
But if our unrighteousness
demonstrates the righteousness of God, what shall we say? The God who inflicts wrath is not unrighteous, is He? ( I am speaking in human terms.)
What then shall we say that Abraham,
our forefather according to the flesh, has found?
What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase?
What shall we say then? Is the Law sin? May it never be! On the contrary, I would not have come to know sin except through the Law; for I would not have known about coveting if the Law had not said, “ You shall not covet.”
And there are also
many other things which Jesus did, which if they *were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself *would not contain the books that *would be written.
1 Samuel 16:1
Now the Lord said to Samuel, “
How long will you grieve over Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go; I will send you to Jesse the Bethlehemite, for I have selected a king for Myself among his sons.”
Brethren, I may confidently say to you regarding the patriarch David that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
After He had
removed him, He raised up David to be their king, concerning whom He also testified and said, ‘ I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My heart, who will do all My will.’
1 Samuel 1:20
It came about
in due time, after Hannah had conceived, that she gave birth to a son; and she named him Samuel, saying, “ Because I have asked him of the Lord.”
1 Samuel 2:11
Then Elkanah went to his home at
Ramah. But the boy ministered to the Lord before Eli the priest.
1 Samuel 28:3
Samuel was dead, and all Israel had lamented him and buried him in Ramah, his own city. And Saul had removed from the land those who were mediums and spiritists.
Moses and Aaron were among His priests,
Samuel was among those who called on His name;
called upon the Lord and He answered them.
Then the Lord said to me, “Even
though Moses and Samuel were to stand before Me, My heart would not be with this people; send them away from My presence and let them go!
all the prophets who have spoken, from Samuel and his successors onward, also announced these days.
After these things He
gave them judges until Samuel the prophet.
Rejoice and be glad, for your reward in heaven is great; for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.
In that place there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, but yourselves being thrown out.
But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, they will not be persuaded even if someone rises from the dead.’”
all the prophets bear witness that through His name everyone who believes in Him receives forgiveness of sins.”
As an example,
brethren, of suffering and patience, take the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord.
1 Peter 1:10
As to this salvation, the prophets who prophesied of the grace that would come to you made careful searches and inquiries,
2 Peter 1:21
no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
2 Peter 3:2
that you should
remember the words spoken beforehand by the holy prophets and the commandment of the Lord and Savior spoken by your apostles.
The Lord routed Sisera and all his chariots and all his army with the edge of the sword before Barak; and Sisera alighted from his chariot and fled away on foot.
Behold, I have made your face as hard as their faces and your forehead as hard as their foreheads.
