Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
For when Moses had spoken every precept to all the people according to the law, he took the blood of calves and of goats, with water, and scarlet wool, and hyssop, and sprinkled both the book, and all the people,
and not through
the blood of goats and calves, but through His own blood, He entered the holy place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
For it is
impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins.
He sent young men of the sons of Israel,
and they offered burnt offerings and sacrificed young bulls as peace offerings to the Lord.
“Speak to the sons of Israel and say to them, ‘When any man of you brings an
offering to the Lord, you shall bring your offering of animals from the herd or the flock.
But if his offering for a sacrifice of peace offerings to the Lord is from the flock, he shall offer it, male or female,
he shall take some of the blood of the bull and sprinkle it with his finger on the mercy seat on the east side; also in front of the mercy seat he shall sprinkle some of the blood with his finger seven times.
You shall take a bunch of hyssop and dip it in the blood which is in the basin, and apply some of the blood that is in the basin to the lintel and the two doorposts; and none of you shall go outside the door of his house until morning.
A clean person shall take hyssop and dip it in the water, and sprinkle it on the tent and on all the furnishings and on the persons who were there, and on the one who touched the bone or the one slain or the one dying naturally or the grave.
Purify me with hyssop, and I shall be clean; Wash me, and I shall be whiter than snow.
