Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission.
As for the live bird, he shall take it together with
the cedar wood and the scarlet string and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the live bird in the blood of the bird that was slain over the running water.
He shall also do with the bull just as he did with
the bull of the sin offering; thus he shall do with it. So the priest shall make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven.
The second he shall then prepare as a burnt offering
according to the ordinance. So the priest shall make atonement on his behalf for his sin which he has committed, and it will be forgiven him.
the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for any one of the things which he may have done to incur guilt.”
the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I have given it to you on the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood by reason of the life that makes atonement.’
Moreover, they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses in which they eat it.
Aaron’s sons presented the blood to him; and he dipped his finger in the blood and put some on the horns of the altar, and poured out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.
Then he shall go out to the altar that is before the Lord and make atonement for it, and shall take some of the blood of the bull and of the blood of the goat and
put it on the horns of the altar on all sides.
The priest shall take
cedar wood and hyssop and scarlet material and cast it into the midst of the burning heifer.
The Lord our God made
a covenant with us at Horeb.
Was it not necessary for the Christ to suffer these things and to enter into His glory?”
