4 Fury is not in me: who would set the briers and thorns against me in battle? I would go through them, I would burn them together.

4 I am not angry, but if it produces thorns and briers(D) for Me,I will fight against it, trample it,and burn it to the ground.

4 I am not angry. If only the vineyard could give me briers and thorns to battle, I would march against it, and I would burn it all up.

The Lord Will Send Israel Away

7 Like the striking of Him who has struck them, has (N)He struck them?Or like the slaughter of His slain, (j)have they been slain?

7 Hath he smitten him, as he smote those that smote him? or is he slain according to the slaughter of them that are slain by him?

7 Did the Lord strike Israelas He struck the one who struck Israel?(G)Was he killed like those killed by Him?

7 Has the LORD struck them down, just as he struck down those who struck them? Or have they been killed, just as their killers were killed?

7 Like the striking (c)by Him who has struck them, has He struck them?Or like the slaughter of His slain, have they been slain?

8 You contended with them (k)by banishing them, by (O)driving them away. With His fierce wind He has expelled them on the day of the (P)east wind.

8 In measure, when it shooteth forth, thou wilt debate with it: he stayeth his rough wind in the day of the east wind.

8 You disputed with herby banishing and driving her away.(a)He removed her with His severe stormon the day of the east wind.

8 Measure by measure, in their exile you contended with them; with his fierce blast he removed them, as on a day when the east wind blows.

8 You contended with them by exile, by driving them away [from Canaan];He has expelled them with His fierce wind on the day of the east wind.

9 Therefore through this Jacob’s iniquity will be (Q)forgiven; And this will be (l)the full price of the (m)(R)pardoning of his sin:When he makes all the (S)altar stones like pulverized chalk stones; When (n)Asherim and incense altars will not stand.

9 By this therefore shall the iniquity of Jacob be purged; and this is all the fruit to take away his sin; when he maketh all the stones of the altar as chalkstones that are beaten in sunder, the groves and images shall not stand up.

9 Therefore Jacob’s iniquity(H) will be purged in this way,and the result of the removal of his sin will be this:(I)when he makes all the altar stoneslike crushed bits of chalk,no Asherah poles or incense altars will remain standing.

9 By this, then, Jacob's guilt will be atoned for, and this will be the full harvest that comes from the removal of his sin: when he makes all the altar stones like pulverized chalkstones, no Asherah poles or incense altars will be left standing.

9 Therefore through this the wickedness [the sin, the injustice, the wrongdoing] of Jacob (Israel) will be atoned for and forgiven; And this will be (d)the full price [that God requires] for taking away his sin:When Israel makes all the stones of the [pagan] altars like crushed chalk stones; When the Asherim and the incense altars will not stand.

10 For the fortified city is (T)isolated,A (o)homestead forlorn and forsaken like the desert;(U)There the calf will graze,And there it will lie down and (p)feed on its branches.

10 Yet the defenced city shall be desolate, and the habitation forsaken, and left like a wilderness: there shall the calf feed, and there shall he lie down, and consume the branches thereof.

10 For the fortified city will be deserted, pastures abandoned and forsaken like a wilderness.Calves will graze there, and there they will spread out and strip its branches.

10 For the fortified city stands desolate, a settlement abandoned and forsaken like the desert; calves graze there, and there they lie down and strip bare its branches.

10 For the fortified city is isolated,A settlement deserted and abandoned like the desert; There the calf will graze,And there it will lie down and (e)feed on its branches.

11 When its (V)limbs are dry, they are broken off;Women come and make a fire with them,For they are not a people of (W)discernment,Therefore (X)their Maker (Y)will not have compassion on them. And their Creator will not be gracious to them.

11 When the boughs thereof are withered, they shall be broken off: the women come, and set them on fire: for it is a people of no understanding: therefore he that made them will not have mercy on them, and he that formed them will shew them no favour.

11 When its branches dry out, they will be broken off.Women will come and make fires with them, for they are not a people with understanding.(J)Therefore their Maker(K) will not have compassion on them, and their Creator will not be gracious to them.

11 When its branches are dry, they are broken off, and women come and kindle fires with them, since this is a people who show no consideration. That is why the One who made them shows them no compassion; the One who created them shows them no mercy.

11 When its branches are dry, they are broken off;The women come and (f)make a fire with them. For they are not a people of understanding,Therefore He who made them will not have compassion on them,And He who created them will not be gracious to them.

12 In that day the Lord (Z)will start His threshing from the flowing stream of the (AA)Euphrates to the brook of Egypt, and you will be (AB)gathered up one by one, O sons of Israel.

12 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the LORD shall beat off from the channel of the river unto the stream of Egypt, and ye shall be gathered one by one, O ye children of Israel.

12 On that day(L)the Lord will thresh grain from the Euphrates Riveras far as the Wadi of Egypt,(M)and you Israelites will be gathered one by one.

12 At that time, the LORD will winnow grain from the Euphrates River channel to the Wadi of Egypt, and you will be gathered in one by one, O people of Israel.

12 In that day the Lord will thresh [out His grain] from the flowing stream of the River [Euphrates] to the Brook of Egypt, and you will be gathered up one by one, O sons of Israel.

13 It will come about also in that day that a great (AC)trumpet will be blown, and those who were perishing in the land of (AD)Assyria and who were scattered in the land of Egypt will come and (AE)worship the Lord in the holy mountain at Jerusalem.

13 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the great trumpet shall be blown, and they shall come which were ready to perish in the land of Assyria, and the outcasts in the land of Egypt, and shall worship the LORD in the holy mount at Jerusalem.

13 On that daya great trumpet(N) will be blown, and those lost in the land of Assyria will come,as well as those dispersed in the land of Egypt;and they will worship the Lordat Jerusalem on the holy mountain.

13 Furthermore, at that time, a great trumpet will be sounded, and those who were perishing in the land of Assyria and those who had been expelled to the land of Egypt will come and worship the LORD on his holy mountain at Jerusalem.

13 It will come to pass in that day that a great trumpet will be blown, and those who were lost and perishing in the land of Assyria and who were scattered in the land of Egypt will come and worship the Lord on the holy mountain at Jerusalem.(B)
