Why hast thou prophesied in the name of the LORD, saying, This house shall be like Shiloh, and this city shall be desolate without an inhabitant? And all the people were gathered against Jeremiah in the house of the LORD.
But the chief priests and the elders persuaded the crowds to
ask for Barabbas and to put Jesus to death.
But the chief priests stirred up the crowd
to ask him to release Barabbas for them instead.
the Jews incited the devout women of prominence and the leading men of the city, and instigated a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and drove them out of their district.
But when her masters saw that their hope of
profit was gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the market place before the authorities,
the Jews, becoming jealous and taking along some wicked men from the market place, formed a mob and set the city in an uproar; and attacking the house of Jason, they were seeking to bring them out to the people.
For a man named Demetrius, a silversmith, who made silver shrines of
Artemis, was bringing no little business to the craftsmen;
Then all the city was provoked, and
the people rushed together, and taking hold of Paul they dragged him out of the temple, and immediately the doors were shut.
They listened to him up to this statement, and then they raised their voices and said, “
Away with such a fellow from the earth, for he should not be allowed to live!”
These words He spoke in
the treasury, as He taught in the temple; and no one seized Him, because His hour had not yet come.
So that He abandoned the dwelling place at Shiloh,
which He had pitched among men,
