Therefore the princes said unto the king, We beseech thee, let this man be put to death: for thus he weakeneth the hands of the men of war that remain in this city, and the hands of all the people, in speaking such words unto them: for this man seeketh not the welfare of this people, but the hurt.
But the king of Egypt said to them, “Moses and Aaron, why do you
draw the people away from their work? Get back to your labors!”

When Ahab saw Elijah,
Ahab said to him, “Is this you, you troubler of Israel?”

Ahab said to Elijah, “
Have you found me, O my enemy?” And he answered, “I have found you, because you have sold yourself to do evil in the sight of the Lord.
let it be known to the king that the Jews who came up from you have come to us at Jerusalem; they are rebuilding
the rebellious and evil city and are finishing the walls and repairing the foundations.
For all of them were trying to frighten us,
thinking, “ They will become discouraged with the work and it will not be done.” But now, O God, strengthen my hands.
Then Amaziah, the
priest of Bethel, sent word to Jeroboam king of Israel, saying, “Amos has conspired against you in the midst of the house of Israel; the land is unable to endure all his words.
And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”
But some of them went to the
Pharisees and told them the things which Jesus had done.
and when they had brought them to the chief magistrates, they said, “These men are throwing our city into confusion, being Jews,
When they did not find them, they began
dragging Jason and some brethren before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have upset the world have come here also;
For we have found this man a real pest and a fellow who stirs up dissension among all the Jews throughout
the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes.
But we desire to hear from you what
your views are; for concerning this sect, it is known to us that it is spoken against everywhere.”
Seek the welfare of the city where I have sent you into exile, and pray to the Lord on its behalf; for in its welfare you will have welfare.’
But if the
officials hear that I have talked with you and come to you and say to you, ‘Tell us now what you said to the king and what the king said to you; do not hide it from us and we will not put you to death,’
