Treasury of Scripture Knowledge
For we have found this man a pestilent fellow, and a mover of sedition among all the Jews throughout the world, and a ringleader of the sect of the Nazarenes:
They put forward
false witnesses who said, “This man incessantly speaks against this holy place and the Law;
and when they had brought them to the chief magistrates, they said, “These men are throwing our city into confusion, being Jews,
When they did not find them, they began
dragging Jason and some brethren before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have upset the world have come here also;
crying out, “Men of Israel, come to our aid!
This is the man who preaches to all men everywhere against our people and the Law and this place; and besides he has even brought Greeks into the temple and has defiled this holy place.”
They listened to him up to this statement, and then they raised their voices and said, “
Away with such a fellow from the earth, for he should not be allowed to live!”
But we desire to hear from you what
your views are; for concerning this sect, it is known to us that it is spoken against everywhere.”

When Ahab saw Elijah,

It is enough for the disciple that he become like his teacher, and the slave like his master. If they have called the head of the house Beelzebul, how much more will they malign the members of his household!

saying, “This man persuades men to worship God contrary to
