Jeremiah 47:5

A Message Concerning The Philistines

⁴ The time has come to destroy all the Philistines, to cut off from Tyre and Sidon any Philistine who might have escaped to get help. Jehovah will destroy the Philistines and anyone who is left from the island of Crete. ⁵ “Baldness has come upon Gaza;
Ashkelon has been ruined.
O remnant of their valley,
How long will you gash yourself?
⁶ You cry out: Sword of Jehovah, how long will you keep on fighting? Go back into your sheath. Stay there and rest!

Jeremiah 48:37

Leviticus 19:28

Never slash your body to mourn the dead, and never get a tattoo. I am Jehovah.

Leviticus 21:5

You should never mourn by shaving bald spots on your heads, shaving the edges of your beards, or slashing your bodies.

Deuteronomy 14:1

You are the sons of Jehovah your God. Do not cut yourselves nor shave your forehead for the sake of the dead.

Ezekiel 7:18

They will put on sackcloth and they will tremble all over. Their heads will be shaved, and they will all be disgraced.

Ezekiel 25:16

Zephaniah 2:4-7

For Gaza will be abandoned. Ashkelon will be a desolate waste. They will drive out Ashdod at high noon. Ekron will be exterminated.

Zechariah 9:5-7

Ashkelon will see it and fear! Gaza will be pained and Ekron will be put to shame. The king will perish from Gaza, and Ashkelon will not be inhabited.
