As for me, is my complaint to man? and if it were so, why should not my spirit be troubled?

I will not keep from speaking. I must express my anguish. I must complain in my bitterness.

I loathe my very life. I will therefore give free rein to my complaint and speak out in my bitterness.

Do not consider your maidservant a worthless woman. I pray like this because I am miserable and filled with grief.

([Psalm of David]) My God, my God, why have you forsaken me? Why are you so far away from my deliverance, so far away from the words of my moaning?

I remember God, and I groan. I complain, and my spirit is overwhelmed.

Hear my prayer, O Jehovah! And let my cry for help come to you.

He told them: My heart is deeply grieved to the point of death. Stay with me and watch.

The king of Israel walked by on the city wall when a woman cried out: Help me, Your Majesty!

Why am I in despair? Why have I become disturbed within me? Wait for God for I shall yet praise him, the help of my countenance and my God.
