then sheweth he them their works and deeds and the sins wherewith they have used cruel violence.

For he hath stretched out his hand against God, and armed himself against the Almighty.

But when we are judged of the Lord we are chastened, because we should not be damned with the world.

This is a true saying, and by all means worthy to be received, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am chief:

Furthermore, the LORD was angry with me for your sakes, and sware that I should not go over Jordan and that I should not go unto that good land, which the LORD thy God giveth thee to inheritance.

Wherefore the LORD brought upon them the Captains of the host of the king of Assyria, which took Manasseh in a hold and bound him with chains and carried him to Babylon.

and will say unto God: O do not condemn me; but show me the cause, wherefore thou contendest so with me.

Destroy thou them, O God; let them perish in their own imaginations! Cast them out in the multitude of their ungodliness; for they have rebelled against thee.

Blessed is the man, whom thou chastenest, O LORD, and teachest him in thy law,

Before I was troubled, I went wrong, but now I keep thy word.

It is good for me that I have been in trouble, that I may learn thy statutes.

For our offenses are many before thee, and our sins testify against us. Yea, we must confess that we offend, and acknowledge that we do amiss:

Wherefore then murmureth the living man, let him murmur at his own sin.

because he feared and turned from all his wickedness which he did, he shall live and not die, saith the Lord almighty.

Then he came to himself and said, 'How many hired servants at my father's have bread enough, and I die for hunger.

But the law, in the meantime, entered in that sin should increase. Neverthelater, where abundance of sin was, there was more plenteousness of grace.
