Summary

The vine is dried up, and the fig tree languisheth; the pomegranate tree, the palm tree also, and the apple tree, even all the trees of the field, are withered: because joy is withered away from the sons of men.

The vine

The field is ruined,

The land mourns;

For the grain is ruined,
The new wine dries up,
Fresh oil fails.

Though the fig tree should not blossom
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold
And there be no cattle in the stalls,

The pomegranate

Then they came to the valley of

Eshcol and from there cut down a branch with a single cluster of grapes; and they carried it on a pole between two men, with some of the pomegranates and the figs.

The righteous man will flourish like the palm tree,
He will grow like a cedar in Lebanon.

apple tree among the trees of the forest,

So is my beloved among the young men.
In his shade I took great delight and sat down,
And his fruit was sweet to my taste.
