Yahweh's Judgment On The Nations
1 For, behold, in those days, and in that time, when I shall bring again the captivity of Judah and Jerusalem,
1 “(a)For behold, (A)in those days and at that time,When I (B)restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,
1 "Look, now! In those very days and at that time, when I restore prosperity to Judah and Jerusalem,
1 “For behold, in those [climactic] days and at that time,When I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem,
2 I will also gather all nations, and will bring them down into the valley of Jehoshaphat, and will plead with them there for my people and for my heritage Israel, whom they have scattered among the nations, and parted my land.
2 I will (C)gather all the nationsAnd bring them down to the (D)valley of (b)Jehoshaphat.Then I will (E)enter into judgment with them thereOn behalf of My people and My inheritance, Israel,Whom they have (F)scattered among the nations;And they have (G)divided up My land.
2 I will gather all the nations(B)and take them to the Valley of Jehoshaphat.(b)(C)I will enter into judgment with them there(D)because of My people, My inheritance Israel.The nations have scattered the Israelitesin foreign countries(E)and divided up My land.(F)
2 I will gather all nations, bringing them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. I will set out my case against them there, on behalf of my people, my heritage Israel, whom they scattered among the nations, apportioning my land among themselves.
2 I will gather together all the [Gentile] nations [that were hostile to My people]And bring them down into the Valley of Jehoshaphat (the Lord has judged).And there I will deal with them and enter into judgment with them thereFor [their treatment of] My people, My inheritance, Israel,Whom they have scattered among the nations,And [because] they have encroached on My land and divided it up.
3 And they have cast lots for my people; and have given a boy for an harlot, and sold a girl for wine, that they might drink.
3 “They have also (H)cast lots for My people,(c)(I)Traded a boy for a harlotAnd sold a girl for wine that they may drink.
3 They cast lots for My people;(G)they bartered a boy for a prostituteand sold a girl for wine to drink.(H)
3 They cast lots for my people they sold a young boy in exchange for a prostitute, and a girl for wine, so they could drink."
3 “They have also cast lots for My people,And have traded a boy for a prostituteAnd have sold a girl for wine that they may drink.
4 Yea, and what have ye to do with me, O Tyre, and Zidon, and all the coasts of Palestine? will ye render me a recompence? and if ye recompense me, swiftly and speedily will I return your recompence upon your own head;
4 Moreover, what are you to Me, O (J)Tyre, Sidon and all the regions of (K)Philistia? Are you rendering Me a recompense? But if you do recompense Me, swiftly and speedily I will (L)return your recompense on your head.
4 And also: Tyre,(I) Sidon, and all the territories of Philistia(J)—what are you to Me? Are you paying Me back or trying to get even with Me? I will quickly bring retribution on your heads.(K)
4 "Furthermore, what have you to do with me, Tyre, Sidon, and all the sea coasts of Philistia? Are you taking revenge on me? If you are taking revenge on me, I'll send it back on you swiftly and promptly,
5 Because ye have taken my silver and my gold, and have carried into your temples my goodly pleasant things:
5 since you took my silver and gold, carried my precious treasures into your temples,
5 Because you have taken My silver and My gold and have carried My precious treasures to your temples and palaces,
6 The children also of Judah and the children of Jerusalem have ye sold unto the Grecians, that ye might remove them far from their border.
6 and sold the (N)sons of Judah and Jerusalem to the (e)Greeks in order to remove them far from their territory,
6 You sold the people of Judah and Jerusalem to the Greeks(M) to remove them far from their own territory.
6 and sold Judah's and Jerusalem's descendants to the Greeks, so you can remove them far from their homeland!
6 and have sold the children of Judah and the children of Jerusalem to the Greeks, so that you may send them far away from their territory,
7 Behold, I will raise them out of the place whither ye have sold them, and will return your recompence upon your own head:
7 behold, I am going to (O)arouse them from the place where you have sold them, and return your recompense on your head.
7 Look, I am about to rouse them up from the place where you sold them;(N) I will bring retribution on your heads.
7 "Look, I will bring them up from where you sold them, I will turn your revenge back upon you,
7 behold, I am going to stir them up from the place where you have sold them [and return them to their land], and I shall return your action [of retaliation] on your own head.
8 And I will sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the children of Judah, and they shall sell them to the Sabeans, to a people far off: for the LORD hath spoken it.
8 Also I will (P)sell your sons and your daughters into the hand of the sons of Judah, and they will sell them to the (Q)Sabeans, to a distant nation,” for the Lord has spoken.
8 I will sell your sons and daughters into the hands of the people of Judah,(O) and they will sell them to the Sabeans,(c)(P) to a distant nation, for the Lord has spoken.
8 and I will sell your sons and daughters into the control of the people of Judah. And they will sell them to the people of Sheba, a country far away." Indeed, the LORD has spoken."
Yahweh's Judgment In The Valley Of Jehoshaphat
9 Proclaim ye this among the Gentiles; Prepare war, wake up the mighty men, let all the men of war draw near; let them come up:
9 (R)Proclaim this among the nations:(S)Prepare a war; (T)rouse the mighty men!Let all the soldiers draw near, let them come up!
9 Proclaim this among the nations:(Q)Prepare for holy war;(R)rouse the warriors;(S)let all the men of war advance and attack!
9 "Declare this among the nations: "Prepare for war! Wake up your elite forces! Let all the soldiers draw near! Call them up!
9 Proclaim this among the [pagan] nations:Prepare a war! Stir up the mighty men!Let all the men of war come near, let them come up!
10 Beat your plowshares into swords, and your pruninghooks into spears: let the weak say, I am strong.
10 (U)Beat your plowshares into swordsAnd your pruning hooks into spears;(V)Let the weak say, “I am a mighty man.”
10 Beat your plows into swordsand your pruning knives into spears.(T)Let even the weakling say, “I am a warrior.”
10 Beat your plow blades into swords, and your pruning knives into spears! Let the frail say, "I am strong!"
11 Assemble yourselves, and come, all ye heathen, and gather yourselves together round about: thither cause thy mighty ones to come down, O LORD.
11 (f)(W)Hasten and come, all you surrounding nations,And gather yourselves there.Bring down, O Lord, Your (X)mighty ones.
11 Come quickly,(d) all you surrounding nations;gather yourselves.(U)Bring down Your warriors there, Lord.(V)
11 Hurry and come, all you gentiles! Gather yourselves together!'" "LORD, cause your mighty army to come down.
11 Hurry and come, all you surrounding nations,And gather yourselves there;Bring down, O Lord, Your mighty ones (Your warriors).
12 Let the heathen be wakened, and come up to the valley of Jehoshaphat: for there will I sit to judge all the heathen round about.
12 Let the nations be arousedAnd come up to the (Y)valley of (g)Jehoshaphat,For there I will sit to (Z)judgeAll the surrounding nations.
12 Let the nations be rousedand come to the Valley of Jehoshaphat,for there I will sit downto judge all the surrounding nations.(W)
12 "Let the nations be awakened and come to the Valley of Jehoshaphat; because I will sit to judge all the surrounding nations.
12 Let the nations be stirred [to action]And come up to the Valley of Jehoshaphat,For there I will sit to judge and punishAll the surrounding nations.
13 Put ye in the sickle, for the harvest is ripe: come, get you down; for the press is full, the fats overflow; for their wickedness is great.
13 (AA)Put in the sickle, for the (AB)harvest is ripe.Come, (AC)tread, for the (AD)wine press is full;The vats overflow, for their (AE)wickedness is great.
13 Swing the sicklebecause the harvest is ripe.(X)Come and trample the grapesbecause the winepress is full;(Y)the wine vats overflowbecause the wickedness of the nations is great.(Z)
13 Put in the sickle, because the harvest is ripe. Come and go down, because the winepress is full. The wine vats are overflowing, because their evil is great!
14 Multitudes, multitudes in the valley of decision: for the day of the LORD is near in the valley of decision.
14 (AF)Multitudes, multitudes in the (AG)valley of (h)decision!For the (AH)day of the Lord is near in the valley of (i)decision.
14 Multitudes, multitudes(AA)in the valley of decision!For the Day of the Lord is near(AB)in the valley of decision.
14 "Multitudes, multitudes in the Valley of Judgment! For the Day of the LORD is near in the Valley of Judgment!
16 The LORD also shall roar out of Zion, and utter his voice from Jerusalem; and the heavens and the earth shall shake: but the LORD will be the hope of his people, and the strength of the children of Israel.
16 The Lord (AJ)roars from ZionAnd (AK)utters His voice from Jerusalem,And the (AL)heavens and the earth tremble.But the Lord is a (AM)refuge for His peopleAnd a (AN)stronghold to the sons of Israel.
16 The Lord will roar from Zion(AD)and raise His voice from Jerusalem;(AE)heaven and earth will shake.(AF)But the Lord will be a refuge for His people,(AG)a stronghold for the Israelites.(AH)
16 "The LORD will roar from Zion, and shout from Jerusalem. The heavens and the earth will shake, but the LORD will be the refuge of his people, and the strength of the people of Israel."
Israel Blessed
17 So shall ye know that I am the LORD your God dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain: then shall Jerusalem be holy, and there shall no strangers pass through her any more.
17 Then you will (AO)know that I am the Lord your God,Dwelling in Zion, My (AP)holy mountain.So Jerusalem will be (AQ)holy,And (AR)strangers will pass through it no more.
17 Then you will knowthat I am Yahweh your God,(AI)who dwells in Zion, My holy mountain.(AJ)Jerusalem will be holy,(AK)and foreigners will never overrun it again.(AL)
17 "And truly you will know that I am the LORD your God, dwelling in Zion, my holy mountain. Then Jerusalem will be holy, and no foreigners will invade her again.
17 Then you will know and understand fully that I am the Lord your God,Dwelling in Zion, My holy mountain.Then Jerusalem will be holy,And strangers [who do not belong] will no longer pass through it.
A New Life Promised For Judah
18 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the mountains shall drop down new wine, and the hills shall flow with milk, and all the rivers of Judah shall flow with waters, and a fountain shall come forth of the house of the LORD, and shall water the valley of Shittim.
18 And in that dayThe (AS)mountains will drip with (j)sweet wine,And the hills will (AT)flow with milk,And all the (AU)brooks of Judah will flow with water;And a (AV)spring will go out from the house of the LordTo water the valley of (k)Shittim.
18 In that daythe mountains will drip with sweet wine,(AM)and the hills will flow with milk.(AN)All the streams of Judah will flow with water,(AO)and a spring will issue from the Lord’s house,(AP)watering the Valley of Acacias.(e)(AQ)
18 It will come about at that time that the mountains will drip with newly pressed wine, the hills will flow with milk, and the streams of Judah will flow abundantly. A fountain will spring from the Temple of the LORD, to water the Valley of the Acacias.
19 Egypt shall be a desolation, and Edom shall be a desolate wilderness, for the violence against the children of Judah, because they have shed innocent blood in their land.
19 Egypt will become a waste,And Edom will become a desolate wilderness,Because of the (AW)violence (l)done to the sons of Judah,In whose land they have shed innocent blood.
19 Egypt will become desolate,and Edom a desert wasteland,because of the violence done to the people of Judah(AR)in whose land they shed innocent blood.
19 Egypt will be desolate, and Edom will be a desert, because of violence against the people of Judah since they shed innocent blood in their land.
