And from thenceforth Pilate sought to release him: but the Jews cried out, saying, If thou let this man go, thou art not Caesar's friend: whosoever maketh himself a king speaketh against Caesar.
But when Herod heard of it, he kept saying, “John, whom I beheaded, has risen!”
But some days later Felix arrived with Drusilla, his
wife who was a Jewess, and sent for Paul and heard him speak about faith in Christ Jesus.
entered again into the Praetorium, and summoned Jesus and said to Him, “ Are You the King of the Jews?”
And they began to accuse Him, saying, “We found this man misleading our nation and forbidding to pay taxes to Caesar, and saying that He Himself is Christ, a King.”
When they did not find them, they began
dragging Jason and some brethren before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have upset the world have come here also;
Pilate, wanting to release Jesus, addressed them again,
nor do you take into account that
it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”
And though they found no ground for putting Him to death, they
asked Pilate that He be executed.
