Jesus Is Crucified

²¹ The chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate: Do not write, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews. ²² Pilate answered, “What I have written I have written.” ²³ After they impaled Jesus the soldiers took his garments and made four parts, one for each soldier. The coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.

As a result of this Pilate sought to release him. The Jews cried out: If you release this man you are not Caesar's friend. Every one that makes himself a king speaks against Caesar.
