Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
They did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on
two came forward,
and saying, “
You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days, save Yourself! If You are the Son of God, come down from the cross.”
“We heard Him say, ‘
I will destroy this temple made with hands, and in three days I will build another made without hands.’”
Those passing by were
hurling abuse at Him, wagging their heads, and saying, “Ha! You who are going to destroy the temple and rebuild it in three days,
for just as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the sea monster, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.
and said, “Sir, we remember that when He was still alive that deceiver said, ‘
After three days I am to rise again.’
Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them,
“Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
For this reason the Father loves Me, because I lay down My life so that I may take it again.
Jesus said to her,
“ I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me will live even if he dies,
And He began to teach them that the Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.
But God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.
but put to death the
Prince of life, the one whom God raised from the dead, a fact to which we are witnesses.
but for our sake also, to whom it will be credited, as those
who believe in Him who raised Jesus our Lord from the dead,
Therefore we have been
buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
But if the Spirit of Him who
raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.
1 Corinthians 15:3
I delivered to you as of first importance what I also received, that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
1 Peter 3:18
Christ also died for sins once for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh, but made alive in the spirit;
