This spake he, signifying by what death he should glorify God. And when he had spoken this, he saith unto him, Follow me.
according to my
earnest expectation and hope, that I will not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness, Christ will even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life or by death.
1 Peter 4:11
Whoever speaks, is to do so as one who is speaking the utterances of God; whoever serves is to do so as one who is serving by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belongs the glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.
2 Peter 1:14
the laying aside of my earthly dwelling is imminent, as also our Lord Jesus Christ has made clear to me.
Jesus *said to him,
“If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!”
If anyone serves Me, he must follow Me; and where I am, there My servant will be also; if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.
Simon Peter *said to Him, “Lord, where are You going?” Jesus answered,
“ Where I go, you cannot follow Me now; but you will follow later.”
But My servant Caleb,
because he has had a different spirit and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land which he entered, and his descendants shall take possession of it.
1 Samuel 12:20
Samuel said to the people, “Do not fear. You have committed all this evil, yet
do not turn aside from following the Lord, but serve the Lord with all your heart.
And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me.
From that time Jesus began to show His disciples that He must go to Jerusalem, and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised up on the third day.
And Jesus said to them,
“Truly I say to you, that you who have followed Me, in the regeneration when the Son of Man will sit on His glorious throne, you also shall sit upon twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.
But turning around and seeing His disciples, He rebuked Peter and *said,
“Get behind Me, Satan; for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests, but man’s.”
saying, “ The Son of Man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed and be raised up on the third day.”
