Then said Jesus unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.
As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of Man be lifted up;
And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all men to Myself.”
There they crucified Him, and with Him
two other men, one on either side, and Jesus in between.
cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
So then, those who had received his word were baptized; and that day there were added about three thousand
But many of those who had heard the
message believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.
who was declared
the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord,
1 Thessalonians 2:15
who both killed the Lord Jesus and the prophets, and drove us out. They are not pleasing to God, but hostile to all men,
Therefore Jesus answered and was saying to them,
“Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner.
For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me.
I knew that You always hear Me; but because of the people standing around I said it, so that they may believe that You sent Me.”
For I did not speak on My own initiative, but the Father Himself who sent Me has given Me a commandment as to what to say and what to speak.
Moses said, “By this you shall know that
the Lord has sent me to do all these deeds; for this is not my doing.
For if the word
spoken through angels proved unalterable, and every transgression and disobedience received a just penalty,
Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak of what we know and testify of what we have seen, and you do not accept our testimony.
