John 9:28

Then they jeered him, and said, "You are a disciple of His yourself, but we are disciples of Moses.

Now if you call yourself a Jew, and rely on law, and boast about God,

"Blessed are you when people abuse you, and persecute you, and keep on falsely telling all sorts of evil against you for my sake.

And the passers-by kept hissing at Him, shaking their heads

Do not be thinking that I am going to accuse you to the Father. You have your accuser; it is Moses on whom you have set your hopes!

Did not Moses give you the law? And yet not one of you is keeping that law. If so, why are you trying to kill me?"

Then the Pharisees answered, "You are not swept off your feet too, are you?

Then they retorted, "You were born in total depravity, and yet you are trying to teach us!" And so they turned him out of the synagogue.

So they instigated men to say, "We have heard him speaking abusive words against Moses and God."

We have worked hard with our own hands for a living. When abused by people, we bless them. When persecuted, we patiently bear it.

or thieves or greedy graspers for more or drunkards or slanderers or swindlers will not have a share in the kingdom of God.

Although He was abused, He never retorted; although He continued to suffer, He never threatened, but committed His case to Him who judges justly.

Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
