John 9:28

Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.

they answered, you were a vicious fellow from your very birth, and do you pretend to preach to us? and then they excommunicated him.

upon which the Pharisees answered, are ye also seduced?

Blessed shall you be when men shall revile and persecute you, and falsely charge you with all manner of evil for your attachment to me.

the passengers all the while reviling him, shook their heads at him,

we are fatigu'd by our manual toil: when reviled, we pray: when persecuted, we don't repine:

nor thieves, nor misers, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor raparees, shall inherit the kingdom of God.

who, when he was reviled, did not revile again: when he was in his sufferings, he did not threat, but referr'd his cause to the righteous judge.

don't imagine that I shall accuse you to my father: even Moses himself in whom you confide, will be your accuser.

was it not Moses who gave you the law, and yet none of you observe that law?

they suborned men, who said, we have heard him speak irreverently of Moses, and of God.

'Tis true, you bear the name of a Jew, you depend upon the law, and boast of your worship:

and were all baptized into the Mosaical institution by the cloud, and by the sea;
