And he said unto them, Take me up, and cast me forth into the sea; so shall the sea be calm unto you: for I know that for my sake this great tempest is upon you.
2 Samuel 24:17
Then David spoke to the Lord when he saw the angel who was striking down the people, and said, “Behold,
it is I who have sinned, and it is I who have done wrong; but these sheep, what have they done? Please let Your hand be against me and against my father’s house.”
nor do you take into account that
it is expedient for you that one man die for the people, and that the whole nation not perish.”
sons of Israel cannot stand before their enemies; they turn their backs before their enemies, for they have become accursed. I will not be with you anymore unless you destroy the things under the ban from your midst.
1 Chronicles 21:17

Wisdom is better than weapons of war, but one sinner destroys much good.
