And others save with fear, pulling them out of the fire; hating even the garment spotted by the flesh.

in the hope of being able to make my fellow-Jews jealous and of managing thus to save some of them.

For my part, present with you in spirit though absent in body, I have already, as in your presence, passed sentence on such an offender as this,

the pain God is allowed to guide ends in a saving repentance never to be regretted, whereas the world's pain ends in death.

Watch yourself and watch your teaching; stick to your work; if you do that, you will save your hearers as well as yourself.
