2 Samuel 23:17
and he said, “Be it far from me, O Lord, that I should do this.
Shall I drink the blood of the men who went in jeopardy of their lives?” Therefore he would not drink it. These things the three mighty men did.
Then Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, the son of Shaphan,
swore to them and to their men, saying, “ Do not be afraid of serving the Chaldeans; stay in the land and serve the king of Babylon, that it may go well with you.
In the seventh month Ishmael the son of Nethaniah, the son of Elishama, of the royal family and one of the chief officers of the king, along with ten men, came to Mizpah to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam. While they were eating bread together there in Mizpah,
saying, “No, but we will
go to the land of Egypt, where we will not see war or hear the sound of a trumpet or hunger for bread, and we will stay there”;
Moreover, He said to me, “Son of man, behold, I am going to
break the staff of bread in Jerusalem, and they will eat bread by weight and with anxiety, and drink water by measure and in horror,
“Son of man,
eat your bread with trembling and drink your water with quivering and anxiety.
