Additional Laws For Burnt Offerings

1 (a)The Lord spoke to Moses:

1 (a)Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

1 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

1 (a)Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

2 “When someone sins and offends the Lord by deceiving(A) his neighbor in regard to a deposit,(B) a security,(b) or a robbery;(C) or defrauds(D) his neighbor;

2 (A)When a person sins and acts unfaithfully against the Lord, and deceives his companion in regard to a deposit or a security entrusted to him, or through robbery, or if he has extorted from his companion,

2 If a soul sin, and commit a trespass against the LORD, and lie unto his neighbour in that which was delivered him to keep, or in fellowship, or in a thing taken away by violence, or hath deceived his neighbour;

2 "A person sins against the LORD by acting treacherously toward his neighbor regarding something entrusted to his care, regarding security for a loan, robbery, if he has oppressed his neighbor,

2 “When anyone sins and acts unfaithfully against the Lord by deceiving his neighbor (companion, associate) in regard to a deposit or a security entrusted to him, or through robbery, or if he has extorted from his neighbor,

3 or finds something lost and lies about it;(E) or swears falsely(F) about any of the sinful things a person may do—

3 or (B)has found what was lost and lied about it and sworn falsely, so that he sins in regard to any one of the things a man may do;

3 Or have found that which was lost, and lieth concerning it, and sweareth falsely; in any of all these that a man doeth, sinning therein:

3 if he has found something that had been lost and then lied about it, or if he makes a false oath about any of these things, thus committing a sin with respect to these things.

3 or has found what was lost and lied about it and sworn falsely, so that he sins in regard to any one of the things a man may do—

4 once he has sinned(G) and acknowledged his guilt(H)—he must return what he stole or defrauded, or the deposit entrusted to him, or the lost item he found,

4 then it shall be, when he sins and becomes guilty, that he shall (C)restore what he took by robbery or what he got by extortion, or the deposit which was (b)entrusted to him or the lost thing which he found,

4 Then it shall be, because he hath sinned, and is guilty, that he shall restore that which he took violently away, or the thing which he hath deceitfully gotten, or that which was delivered him to keep, or the lost thing which he found,

4 If that person has sinned and has been found guilty, then he is to return the stolen thing that he took or obtained by oppression, or the security that had been entrusted to him, or the lost thing that he had found,

4 then if he has sinned and is guilty, he shall restore what he took by robbery, or what he got by extortion, or the deposit which was entrusted to him, or the lost thing which he found,

5 or anything else about which he swore falsely. He must make full restitution for it and add a fifth of its value to it.(I) He is to pay it to its owner on the day he acknowledges his guilt.(J)

5 or anything about which he swore falsely; (D)he shall make restitution for it (c)in full and add to it one-fifth more. (E)He shall give it to the one to whom it belongs on the day he presents his guilt offering.

5 Or all that about which he hath sworn falsely; he shall even restore it in the principal, and shall add the fifth part more thereto, and give it unto him to whom it appertaineth, in the day of his trespass offering.

5 or the thing about which he had given a false oath. He is to restore it in full, add a fifth to it, then give it to whom it belongs the very day he's found guilty.

5 or anything about which he has sworn falsely; he shall not only restore it in full, but shall add to it one-fifth more. He shall give it to the one to whom it belongs on the day of his guilt offering.

6 Then he must bring his restitution offering(K) to the Lord: an unblemished(L) ram from the flock according to your assessment of its value as a restitution offering to the priest.

6 Then he shall bring to the priest his guilt offering to the Lord, (F)a ram without defect from the flock, according to your valuation, for a guilt offering,

6 And he shall bring his trespass offering unto the LORD, a ram without blemish out of the flock, with thy estimation, for a trespass offering, unto the priest:

6 Now as to his guilt offering, he is to bring to the LORD a ram without defect from the flock, estimated as to its value, to the priest.

6 Then he shall bring to the priest his guilt offering to the Lord, a ram without blemish from the flock, as valued by you, as a guilt offering.

7 In this way the priest will make atonement on his behalf before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for anything he may have done to incur guilt.”(M)

7 and (G)the priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for any one of the things which he may have done to incur guilt.”

7 And the priest shall make an atonement for him before the LORD: and it shall be forgiven him for any thing of all that he hath done in trespassing therein.

7 Then the priest is to make atonement for him in the LORD's presence, and it will be forgiven him regarding whatever he did."

7 The priest shall make atonement for him before the Lord, and he will be forgiven for any one of the things which he may have done to incur guilt.”

The Priests And The Offerings

8 (c)The Lord spoke to Moses:

8 (d)Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

Sacrificial Instructions For The Priests: The Burnt Offering

9 “Command Aaron and his sons: This is the law of the burnt offering; the burnt offering itself must remain on the altar’s hearth all night until morning, while the fire of the altar is kept burning on it.

9 “Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is (H)the law for the burnt offering: the burnt offering itself shall remain on the hearth on the altar all night until the morning, and (I)the fire on the altar is to be kept burning on it.

9 Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt offering: It is the burnt offering, because of the burning upon the altar all night unto the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it.

9 "Deliver these orders to Aaron and his sons concerning the regulations for burnt offerings: The burnt offering is to remain on the hearth of the altar throughout the entire night until morning, and the fire on the altar is to be kept burning along with it.

9 “Command Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the burnt offering: the burnt offering shall remain on the hearth that is on the altar all night until morning and the fire is to be kept burning on the altar.

10 The priest is to put on his linen robe and linen undergarments.(d)(N) He is to remove the ashes of the burnt offering the fire has consumed on the altar, and place them beside the altar.

10 The priest is to put on (J)his linen robe, and he shall put on undergarments next to his flesh; and he shall take up the (e)ashes to which the fire (f)reduces the burnt offering on the altar and place them beside the altar.

10 And the priest shall put on his linen garment, and his linen breeches shall he put upon his flesh, and take up the ashes which the fire hath consumed with the burnt offering on the altar, and he shall put them beside the altar.

10 The priest is to clothe himself with a linen robe and undergarments. Then he is to take the ashes of the burnt offering on the altar that had been consumed by the fire and set them beside the altar.

10 The priest is to put on his linen robe, with his linen undergarments next to his body. Then he shall take up the ashes of the burnt offering which the fire has consumed on the altar and put them beside the altar.

11 Then he must take off his garments, put on other clothes,(O) and bring the ashes outside the camp to a ceremonially clean place.

11 Then he shall take off his garments and put on other garments, and carry the (g)ashes outside the camp to a clean place.

11 And he shall put off his garments, and put on other garments, and carry forth the ashes without the camp unto a clean place.

11 Then he is to change his clothes, dressing himself with a different set of clothes, and take the ashes to a clean place outside the camp.

11 Then he shall take off his garments and put on something else, and take the ashes outside the camp to a (ceremonially) clean place.

12 The fire on the altar is to be kept burning; it must not go out. Every morning the priest will burn wood on the fire. He is to arrange the burnt offering on the fire and burn the fat portions from the fellowship offerings(P) on it.

12 The fire on the altar shall be kept burning on it. It shall not go out, but the priest shall burn wood on it every morning; and he shall lay out the burnt offering on it, and offer up in smoke the fat portions of the peace offerings (K)on it.

12 And the fire upon the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be put out: and the priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and lay the burnt offering in order upon it; and he shall burn thereon the fat of the peace offerings.

12 The fire on the altar is to be kept burning continuously without being extinguished. The priest is to burn wood on it every morning, arrange burnt offerings over it, and then burn the fat contained in the peace offerings over it.

12 The fire on the altar shall be kept burning; it shall not [be allowed to] go out. The priest shall burn wood on it every morning, and he shall arrange the burnt offering on it and offer the fat portions of the peace offerings up in smoke on it.

13 Fire must be kept burning on the altar continually; it must not go out.

13 Fire shall be kept burning continually on the altar; it is not to go out.

13 The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out.

13 The fire is to continue to burn on the altar and is never to be extinguished."

13 The fire shall be burning continually on the altar; it shall not [be allowed to] go out.

Additional Laws For Grain Offerings

14 “Now this is the law of the grain offering:(Q) Aaron’s sons will present it before the Lord in front of the altar.

14 ‘Now this is the law of the grain offering: the sons of Aaron shall present it before the Lord in front of the altar.

14 And this is the law of the meat offering: the sons of Aaron shall offer it before the LORD, before the altar.

14 "This is the law concerning grain offerings: Aaron's sons are to offer them in the LORD's presence, in front of the altar.

14 ‘Now this is the law of the grain offering: the sons of Aaron shall present it before the Lord in front of the altar.

15 The priest is to remove a handful of fine flour and olive oil from the grain offering, with all the frankincense that is on the offering, and burn its memorial portion on the altar as a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

15 (L)Then one of them shall lift up from it a handful of the fine flour of the grain offering, (h)with its oil and all the incense that is on the grain offering, and he shall offer it up in smoke on the altar, a soothing aroma, as its memorial offering to the Lord.

15 And he shall take of it his handful, of the flour of the meat offering, and of the oil thereof, and all the frankincense which is upon the meat offering, and shall burn it upon the altar for a sweet savour, even the memorial of it, unto the LORD.

15 He is to take a handful of fine flour for a grain offering, some olive oil, and all of the frankincense for the grain offering, and make a sacrifice of smoke on the altar as a memorial portion, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

15 One of them shall take up from it a handful of the fine flour of the grain offering with its oil and all the incense that is on the grain offering, and he shall offer it up in smoke on the altar, a sweet and soothing aroma, as the memorial offering to the Lord.

16 Aaron and his sons may eat the rest of it.(R) It is to be eaten in the form of unleavened bread(S) in a holy place;(T) they are to eat it in the courtyard(U) of the tent of meeting.

16 (M)What is left of it Aaron and his sons are to eat. It shall be eaten as unleavened cakes in a holy place; they are to eat it in the court of the tent of meeting.

16 And the remainder thereof shall Aaron and his sons eat: with unleavened bread shall it be eaten in the holy place; in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation they shall eat it.

16 Aaron and his sons are to eat what remains of the unleavened offering at this sacred place the court of the Tent of Meeting.

16 What is left of it Aaron and his sons are to eat. It shall be eaten as unleavened bread in a holy place; they are to eat it in the courtyard of the Tent of Meeting.(A)

17 It must not be baked with yeast; I have assigned it as their portion(V) from My fire offerings.(W) It is especially holy, like the sin offering(X) and the restitution offering.

17 (N)It shall not be baked with leaven. I have given it as their share from My offerings by fire; (O)it is most holy, like the sin offering and (P)the guilt offering.

17 It shall not be baken with leaven. I have given it unto them for their portion of my offerings made by fire; it is most holy, as is the sin offering, and as the trespass offering.

17 It is not to be baked with leaven. I've given it as their portion out of my offerings made by fire. It's a most holy thing, like the sin and guilt offerings.

17 It shall not be baked with leaven [which represents corruption or sin]. I have given it as their share of My offerings by fire; it is (c)most holy, like the sin offering and the guilt offering.

18 Any male among Aaron’s descendants(Y) may eat it. It is a permanent portion(e)(Z) throughout your generations from the fire offerings to the Lord. Anything that touches the offerings will become holy.”(AA)

18 (Q)Every male among the sons of Aaron may eat it; it is a permanent ordinance throughout your generations, from the offerings by fire to the Lord. (R)Whoever touches them will become consecrated.’”

18 All the males among the children of Aaron shall eat of it. It shall be a statute for ever in your generations concerning the offerings of the LORD made by fire: every one that toucheth them shall be holy.

18 Every male of Aaron's sons is to eat it as a portion continually allotted for your generations from the offerings made by fire to the Lord. Anyone who touches them is to be holy."

18 Every male among the sons of Aaron may eat it [as his share]; it is a permanent ordinance throughout your generations, from offerings by fire to the Lord. (d)Whatever touches them will become consecrated (ceremonially clean).’”

The Grain Offering Of The Priests

19 The Lord spoke to Moses:

19 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

19 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

19 Then the LORD told Moses,

19 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

20 “This is the offering that Aaron and his sons must present to the Lord on the day that he is anointed: two quarts(f) of fine flour as a regular(g) grain offering, half of it in the morning and half in the evening.

20 “This is the offering which Aaron and his sons are to present to the Lord on the day when he is anointed; the tenth of an (S)ephah of fine flour as (T)a (i)regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening.

20 This is the offering of Aaron and of his sons, which they shall offer unto the LORD in the day when he is anointed; the tenth part of an ephah of fine flour for a meat offering perpetual, half of it in the morning, and half thereof at night.

20 "This is the offering that Aaron and his sons are to offer to the LORD the day he is anointed: a tenth of an ephah of flour is to be offered throughout the day, half in the morning and half in the evening.

20 “This is the offering which Aaron and his sons are to present to the Lord on the day when he is anointed: the tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half of it in the evening.

21 It is to be prepared with oil on a griddle; you are to bring it well-kneaded. You must present it as a grain offering of baked pieces,(h) a pleasing aroma to the Lord.

21 It shall be prepared with oil on a (U)griddle. When it is well stirred, you shall bring it. You shall present the grain offering in baked pieces as a soothing aroma to the Lord.

21 In a pan it shall be made with oil; and when it is baken, thou shalt bring it in: and the baken pieces of the meat offering shalt thou offer for a sweet savour unto the LORD.

21 It is to be prepared with olive oil on a griddle. Once it has been mixed thoroughly, bake it, bring it in pieces, and offer it like a grain offering of broken pieces, a pleasing aroma to the LORD.

21 It shall be prepared with oil on a griddle. When it is well stirred, you shall bring it. You shall present the grain offering in baked pieces as a sweet and soothing aroma to the Lord.

22 The priest, who is one of Aaron’s sons and will be anointed to take his place, is to prepare it. It must be completely burned as a permanent portion for the Lord.

22 The anointed priest who will be in his place (j)among his sons shall (k)offer it. By a permanent ordinance it shall be entirely offered up in smoke to the Lord.

22 And the priest of his sons that is anointed in his stead shall offer it: it is a statute for ever unto the LORD; it shall be wholly burnt.

22 The anointed priest who succeeds him from among his sons is to offer it. As a permanent statute, it is to be offered whole and made to smoke in the LORD's presence.

22 The priest from among the sons of Aaron who is anointed in his place shall offer it. By a permanent statute it shall be entirely offered up in smoke to the Lord.

23 Every grain offering for a priest will be a whole burnt offering;(AB) it is not to be eaten.”

23 So every grain offering of the priest shall be burned entirely. It shall not be eaten.”

23 For every meat offering for the priest shall be wholly burnt: it shall not be eaten.

23 Every grain offering from a priest is to be burned whole. It is not to be eaten."

23 So every grain offering of the priest shall be burned entirely. It shall not be eaten.”

Additional Laws For Sin Offerings

24 The Lord spoke to Moses:

24 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

24 And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

24 Then the LORD told Moses,

24 Then the Lord spoke to Moses, saying,

25 “Tell Aaron and his sons: This is the law of the sin offering.(AC) The sin offering is most holy and must be slaughtered before the Lord at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered.

25 “Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the sin offering: (V)in the place where the burnt offering is slain the sin offering shall be slain before the Lord; it is most holy.

25 Speak unto Aaron and to his sons, saying, This is the law of the sin offering: In the place where the burnt offering is killed shall the sin offering be killed before the LORD: it is most holy.

25 "Tell Aaron and his sons that this is the regulation concerning sin offerings: Slaughter the sin offering in the same place where the whole burnt offering is slaughtered in the LORD's presence. It's a most holy thing.

25 “Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, ‘This is the law of the sin offering: the sin offering shall be killed before the Lord in the [same] place where the burnt offering is killed; it is most holy.

26 The priest who offers it as a sin offering is to eat it. It must be eaten in a holy place,(AD) in the courtyard of the tent of meeting.

26 (W)The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place, in the court of the tent of meeting.

26 The priest that offereth it for sin shall eat it: in the holy place shall it be eaten, in the court of the tabernacle of the congregation.

26 The priest who offers it as a sin offering is to eat it at a sacred place in the court of the Tent of Meeting.

26 The priest who offers it for sin shall eat it. It shall be eaten in a holy place, in the courtyard of the Tent of Meeting.

27 Anything that touches its flesh will become holy, and if any of its blood spatters on a garment, then you must wash that garment(i) in a holy place.

27 (X)Anyone who touches its flesh will become consecrated; and when any of its blood (l)splashes on a garment, in a holy place you shall wash what was splashed on.

27 Whatsoever shall touch the flesh thereof shall be holy: and when there is sprinkled of the blood thereof upon any garment, thou shalt wash that whereon it was sprinkled in the holy place.

27 Whoever touches its meat will be holy. If some of its blood sprinkles on a garment, wash where it was sprinkled in a sacred place.

27 (e)Whatever touches its meat will become consecrated (ceremonially clean). When any of its blood splashes on a garment, you shall wash what was splashed on in a holy place.

28 A clay pot in which the sin offering is boiled must be broken; if it is boiled in a bronze vessel, it must be scoured and rinsed with water.

28 Also (Y)the earthenware vessel in which it was boiled shall be broken; and if it was boiled in a bronze vessel, then it shall be scoured and rinsed in water.

28 But the earthen vessel wherein it is sodden shall be broken: and if it be sodden in a brasen pot, it shall be both scoured, and rinsed in water.

28 The earthen vessel in which it was boiled is to be broken, unless it was boiled in a bronze vessel, in which case it is to be polished very well and rinsed in water.

28 Also the earthenware vessel in which it was boiled shall be broken; and if it was boiled in a bronze vessel, then that vessel shall be scoured and rinsed in water.

29 Any male among the priests may eat it; it is especially holy.

29 (Z)Every male among the priests may eat of it; (AA)it is most holy.

29 All the males among the priests shall eat thereof: it is most holy.

29 Every male among the priests is to eat it. It's a most sacred thing.

29 Every male among the priests may eat this offering; it is most holy.

30 But no sin offering may be eaten if its blood has been brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement in the holy place; it must be burned up.

30 But no sin offering (AB)of which any of the blood is brought into the tent of meeting to make atonement (AC)in the holy place shall be eaten; (AD)it shall be burned with fire.

30 And no sin offering, whereof any of the blood is brought into the tabernacle of the congregation to reconcile withal in the holy place, shall be eaten: it shall be burnt in the fire.

30 Any sin offering from which its blood was brought to the Tent of Meeting to make atonement in the sacred place is not to be eaten. Instead, it is to be incinerated."

30 But no sin offering from which any of the blood is brought into the Tent of Meeting to make atonement in the Holy Place shall be eaten; it shall be [completely] burned in the fire.(B)
