³ And all went to be registered, each to his own city. ⁴ And Joseph also went up from Galilee to be taxed (out of the city of Nazareth, into Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family line of David). ⁵ And he took Mary his betrothed wife, being with child.

Has the Scripture not said that Christ comes from the seed of David and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

1 Samuel 16:1
