And these are they likewise which are sown on stony ground; who, when they have heard the word, immediately receive it with gladness;
Herod was afraid of John, knowing that he was a righteous and holy man, and he kept him safe. And when he heard him, he was very perplexed; but he used to enjoy listening to him.
As He was setting out on a journey, a man ran up to Him and knelt before Him, and asked Him, “Good Teacher, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?”
They come to you as people come, and sit before you as My people and hear your words, but they do not do them, for they do the lustful desires expressed by their
mouth, and their heart goes after their gain.
Then a scribe came and said to Him, “Teacher, I will follow You wherever You go.”
The one on whom seed was sown on the rocky places, this is the man who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy;
Those on the rocky soil are those who, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no firm root; they believe for a while, and in time of temptation fall away.
He was the lamp that was burning and was shining and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light.
Even Simon himself believed; and after being baptized, he continued on with Philip, and as he observed
signs and great miracles taking place, he was constantly amazed.
But as he was discussing
righteousness, self-control and the judgment to come, Felix became frightened and said, “Go away for the present, and when I find time I will summon you.”
Agrippa replied to Paul, “
In a short time you will persuade me to become a Christian.”
